I cannot understand how the probation conditions were lifted a mere 5 months after her release. Absolutely ridiculous.
Since justice was not served as is deserving of this crime and criminal, I certainly do hope that vigilantism wreaks sweet revenge and deals vengeful justice to this sick person.

+ 1,000,000,000.
Any other two-bit criminal spends more time on probation for lesser crimes. She should at least be forced to register as a sex offender. This is a travesty.

Both her and paul are completely fucked!! Seeing pictures of her on the news when she was first released looking into her eyes you can see something isnt right. You can tell a lot about a person through their eyes, and frankly what i see is a women who is completely mentally unstable and who could snap any minute.

I dunno... will she? Surely if she were a man, no guy would think twice about vigilantism, but a woman? Most men would have a problem setting out to kill or maim her, and women on the whole would never do such a thing, unless it was personal. Only way I see this happening is if a mob went after her.

You know her new last name, Teale, is taken from a serial killer in a movie? Rehabilitated my ass.

Heh. Now that everyone knows her new ID, it'll be matter of time before someone knocks on her door one day.

Abercrombie: the cops had already caught the duo before she gave up any info. She made a plea bargin to save her ass, giving the videotape for her freedom. It's not like she came to them before they were busted. A side note: paul was the scarborough rapist, not the killer.

She was the one that drugged her own sister which caused her death directly. So I don't understand how anyone can say she wasn't directly involved with killing. She may not have been the one that dealt the death blow to kristen or leslie, but it's unquestionable with regards to her sister.

My question to the judge would be: Would you let Karla be friends with your OWN children?

In my opinion, the nut is a sexual saddist as much as Bernardo or even more than him. I hope for the rest of her life she is shunned by society and harrassed and receives death threats. Her lawyer said on CBC last night that she "served her time". and that she passed all of her psychological evaluations while in prison and since she was let out in July. WTF???!!! Either she is a really good liar or the tests really need to be revised!
Once again, a criminal gets a slap on the wrist and walks away.

Wrong: She came to the cops after she was badly beaten and abused by him. Check your source.

Wrong: Karla didn't give the videotapes, Paul Bernardo did through his lawyer by telling them where they were hidden (through the lamp, and reaching deep in the bathroom ceiling) after her plea bargain.

Answer: Having any grown woman be friends with children is a mental problem. She should get friends her own age. But I know what you meant. I would not let Karla be alone with my children. There's a lot of people I know well and personally I would not let alone with my children. It doesn't mean the people I know personally well should be locked up in prison.

Remember, I feel for ALL the victims' families, and I grieved with them. I'm not necessarily supporting Karla. What she did was atrocious. I am saddenned however that no one is criticizing Paul, and how good he has it in his own private bubble with his own TV, without any fear of dropping the soap in the prison shower, because he's segregated. I feel he got a better sentence than he deserved, and I as a taxpayer, pay to keep him away from the other prisoners. But of course, reporting on this won't sell papers nor advertizing space.

I'm know this post will just beg to be flamed

Although Karla Homolka/Teale's crimes are repugnant and she is deserving of a longer sentence, the Appeals Court judge did not error in his ruling.

We have to remember that most of what is in the public domain about Karla Homolka is inadmissable in this case. She has never been charged with a sex crime, therefore there is no obligation for her to register with the Sex Offenders Registry.

Homolka is not on parole. She served her sentence and based on the reports of prison officials (the only reports that count in this matter), she was a relatively model prisoner, and Section 810 restrictions are unwarranted.

Most on the board would argue that Section 810 restrictions were created for convicts like Homolka. What a lot of people don't understand is that if 810 was subjected to a Charter challenge, the Supreme Court would likely overturn it. It's a punitive measure that violates our right against unlawful imprisonment and cruel and unusual punishment.

The question that critics of this ruling (almost everybody)should be asking, is why has Attorney General Michael Bryant refused to prosecute Homolka on the outstanding charges related to her sister's death? Yes, the plea agreement protected her against prosecution for further crimes, however there is no law that prevents the Crown from opening this case up again.

Legal convention is the hurdle in this case because of the difficulty in obtaining cooperation in future major investigations. The public interest however, should justify further prosecution. If Homolka were to be convicted again, there is no doubt that she would be declared a Dangerous Offender and imprisoned indefinitely.
