Its amazing how you guys are saying that the GTA is recycled, and then you start givng FF, GT, MEtal Gear, Resident Evil as examples.
Each one of these series', including the entire video game industry, is guilty of the same thing which you are accusing GTA of. They all re-use the same ideas, concepts and strategies which make them 'great' games. They all have their style, and that is the whole point of making a sequel, to draw upon the success of the original, and to add some tweaks in order to keep the game 'fresh' and dynamic enough for the gamer.
zokissima in reference to recycling the engines. Wow, do you have any idea how expensive game development would be, if everybody created a new engine for every new game? Almost all FPSs buy another engine, and just built their games on top of them, that's how the industry is built.
And again, when referring to GTA, you are still looking at the same basic elements, which advertisers use for shock value. When fans like us, say that we play it for much, much more than that, you seem to just discount it.
The truth is, only two types of game can even hold my interest these days, for more than 2 weeks, Racing and GTA. Simple.
Graphics before game play: if you looked at the GTA series, you would also see that it was never at the forefront of graphics technology. the PS2 versions all look like shit, the Xbox versions are a step above, and the PC versions are FAR behind anything good avaialbe on PC. Seriously guys, play the damn game, and compare to the rest of the industry before you critique it.
