Ok so today i went out and did some market research and listend to some speakers, heres what i came across.

-Pair of unpowerd Yamaha S15E:
They where pretty loud had a nice kick to them and bass was tight but the high freqencies where lacking, they sounded dull yet punchier compared to the Alto's listed below.
*Roughly 250 watts rms
*15" Midrange sub
*Tweeter (not sure of specs)
*Phono Jack Connectors
*$790

-Pair of unpowerd Alto Elvis 15A:
Clear and flat respone. Will need a sub to go with it for house parties because it doesnt add that extra "umpph". The bass is very tight but like i said it just doesnt have that extra bassiness the Yamaha does. I realy like the highs on these because all the percussion sounds so bright and alive.
*Roughly 250 watts rms
*15" Midrange sub
*Tweeter (not sure of specs)
*Speakon connections (RIP OFF $40 per cable!)
*$898

-Behringer EP1500 Amp:
Sounded pretty good on all speakers. Couldnt tell much difference from it and the other amps but it sure is powerfull enough for whatever speakers i get. Found lots of reviews saying that its pretty good.
*2 x 700 watts in 2-ohm/1400 watts in 4-ohm bridged operation
*2-channel, parallel or bridged mono operating modes
*$535

I also saw some KV2 speakers that where in my price range but didnt get to listen to them because they wernt set up and i had to get to work. I think the KV2 speakers where active and if i buy them i will definitly give them a listen first but has anyone had experience with this brand?

The guy at the same store also suggested Electro Voice ZX4s they are abit pricy but EV is supposed to be one of THE brands when it comes to speakers. He also showed me some mackies, cant remeber what they where but i gotta go back to that store and get a good listen and some real prices on things.
The speaker guy from the store was sick today so thats why i had such limited info on the KV2, ElectroVoice ZX4 and the Mackies.

I also saw that some stores stock the B52 Matrix 1000v2 for around $2000. So im gonna see how low they are willing to go. Im trying to find a balance between power and quality because iv started working on producing but my dad wants his Altec 604s back. I dont think he wants me to take them to house parties because they are studio moniters and are they are also a pain in the butt to move(roughly 78X62X45cm, completly square, wood box and no handles).
Iv been working as much as i can at my safeway (supermarket -for you overseas people) job and im slowly getting enough money to raise my price bracket slowy but yea -getting there.

I rang up the store that offerd me the EV ZX4 and found out that they are about $1600 for a pair... So he said they have the Electro Voice FRX-122 and he could give me the pair for $1000 they are 200 watt and only 12".
So it comes down to the alto or yamaha.

Do some maths,

u'll probably find it's better to buy as much stuff as u can, before u leave, and get it shipped to your address, later on.

Looked at the idea shipping but nope... Its not realy an option because most speaker systems are too heavy for standard shipping. You are gonna have to spend lots to get big items like speakers individualy shipped, did i even mention duty fees yet? Your far better off buying them through local dealers because they shipped them in quantity using containers. Our market is slowly growing... I hope.

kv2 are a very good make of loudspeakers and perform very well. you should have given em a listen.

18 sound..... search em on the net. i think they are a good loudspeaker manufacturer in auz and they would be good for if you build your own boxes..

Yea... bout those, he gave me the wrong pricing
The cheapest ones they got are $500 to $1000 outa my price range.
The EVs and KVs are realy good. Especialy the EVs iv heard alot about walls of those being used at big gigs. Way to expensive for me though. Even the 12"/200 watt EV is way more expensive then the other 15"/250 watt speakers.

I baught the Yamaha S15Es today.
Turns out that they are 8ohms whilst the amp they gave me (practically the only amp that wasnt wayyy too powerfull)is 2 ohms each channel.
So for those who dont know -Ohms is resistance.
It is 700 watts each channel into 2 Ohms so devide that buy two...
=350 watts then devide that buy two again...
=175 watts into 8ohms.

The speakers are 250 watts so atleast i cannot blow the speakers because even with the gains on the amp at max and my mixer master output near max i dont get any clipping. So it aint that bad. If i can though im gonna see if any of the other speakers that i looked at where 4 ohms, doubt it though and im quiet happy with these.

In total Amp+Speakers+Cables+Adaptors it was $1400 something.

There goes one chapter in the book of shopping for A/V equipement in Australia.
