Sorry to be unclear.
What I meant was that the people who went expecting a good show from a top 10 DJ, AND HAVE FUN WHILE DOING THAT(e.g. seasoned TA's like yourself) were probably disappointed because ATB is not all that. But people who went out just to have fun and did not know much about DJ's and mixing(e.g. my friends who normally listen to rap) had a novel new experience and enjoyed it.
As for myself, I enjoyed the energy in the crowd and some old favourites like Chicane - Saltwater.
Dint mean to offend any of you. Just my 2 cents.
Don't sweat it. I was happy so many people were there, cause it shows that people will show up for an electronic DJ in Austin. Which means we'll continue to get DJs, including some I like better. I even heard a rumor that Markus Schulz will come next year.

well according to the guy who did the jes and kt events, he said that markus is a no go because of scheduling in january. but maybe sometime during the year we could get him to come on down

If you want cutting edge, don't look to the "Top Whatever Djs". There are only a handful of them doing anything exciting.
Personally, I would be looking towards fellow Texan, Derek Howell to bring forth a foward-thinking set and origials/remixes that will be hammered by the big boys.
Getting caught up in a name is a big mistake to make musically and when you hand over your money at the door. I would rather pay a few bucks for a local and be blown away rather than paying out the ass to hear some washed up DJ hangin' on by his name.
This is all IMO. I respect everyones opinion. There are just more exciting things happening out the, you just have to look for them. I don't want to hear old shit I have at home... I want hear the new shit.
Be Well

Well said Lance. Its frustrating when I see people not caring when a local is playing out, yet they all flock to see some uber-DJ based on his name alone.

Its the "Celebrity" thats killing the whole damn thing... along with promoters who book titty-dancer DJs who could not play to say their life.
Think about it... Oh yeah, sorry for the double post
you can hear more about in my blogs "DJ Rant" on myspace.
take care and support local and regional talent.. they need and appreciate your support more than the "big" boys do.
