Are we really still debating whether FL sucks or not?

Honestly. This is like debating some hot issue like gay marriage. People will selectively filter out whatever information they want based on what they believe. It's a bit of cognitive dissonance.

I used to use FL, now I use Cubase. Okay. Great. How about instead of posting all about what sequencers suck and what don't, and what are "pro" and what aren't, we post tracks that we've made and simply not disclose what sequencer they were made in? I think criticism would then become more objective.

Personally if I made an "ALLFRUIT" track, I wouldn't disclose that it was made in Fruity. I would just say I made it. Period.

I wouldnt recommend fruity loops because imo its childs play production. its handed to you on a plate. and you'll end up upgrading to cubase, logic or reason when you become much better at producing. i used fruity loops for about 2 months then upgraded to cubase and reason so it was a waste of money.

Fruity is a decent place to start, moreso because it is the cheapest of the bunch.

If you have cash to spend though, your main debate should be really between Cubase and Reason, or Logic and Reason if you use a mac.

Reason has a good sound and you can do some really good stuff with it, but you cannot import new instraments into it, which is a huge drawback to it. Also many people move on to Cubase or Logic from Reason in the end anyway.

So I would say:

If you just want to have fun - Fruity Loops.
If you want a mid level program - Reason.
If you are really, really interesting in this - Cubase.

When you end up with Cubase odds are you will not need another production program, just plugins and what not.

My opinion is that nowadays it's most wise to start in Ableton Live

It's easy, but at the same time very advanced

I use FL Studio and I love it. It is fun and fast to work in. I would recommend downloading the demo from www.flstudio.com - FL6 is coming out very soon. On the site, there is also a getting started guide. This is the best getting started guide I've ever read. If you download FL, you will most likely be lost for a long time unless you download this guide and go through the tutorials. Besides, it's fun. They also have some video tutorials on their site but start with the getting started guide. Also, when you buy it, buy it online. You will get free updates of all future FL Studio versions. And make sure you get the Producer edition if you can. It has all the features you will need.

You'd have to buy other synths/samples regardless of whether you are using cubase/fl/sonar/logic whatever. So how are the inbuilt synths and samples bad thing? Also, if you've heard any of the work icone has done using these synths you sure would feel like a dumbass...

Also if it's "Just my opinion. Nothing more." you don't need to go enforcing it so harshly, saying that other peoples posts are "fucking stupid".

You're a moron. This forum is better off without you "DJ Lameass"

I think you should just quit music and take up a hobby which is more fitting for your level of intellect...
