don't just give your cd to promoters
people are the reason anyone will book you
you have to draw a crowd, otherwise what's the point in booking you
so give your mixes out to people who come, talk to them, be friendly and approachable
if you're a good dj, people are more than willing to shoot the shit with you

now that you can play out, build a following

Listen dude, you have to keep reminding them of your existance. Hit them with a demo every so often. They probably wont listen to it but it will remind them of your existance. They probably have a hundred guys just like you so you have to be presistant.
Come to them with ideas for nights, have ideas that might pull in people. Say you want to do a party (but not private) and wondered if you could have some time on the decks etc.

You got as far as you did, now you have to go into overdrive.

The trick is doing all this without seeming too pushy as to come across as offensive. But you have to be a little pushy.

yup, i've moved demos to the top of my listen pile cause some kid was persistant and kept asking if i'd had time to listen to his cd yet whenever i saw him out

that's the key, be persistant, but also know that promoters can be very busy people with little free time
you want to stay near the front of their thoughts while not being too pushy

this is the stage where you have your break, you need to take advantage of it and whore yourself... not in the literal sense though... unless maybe that's what you/they like... i'm not here to judge
