Well put...
I think this is common of any messageboard really, especially for the veteran poster. It comes to a point where the user has learned the answers to most of his/her questions and just stays around because of the atmosphere of the board and the quality of the new information that is presented...
HOWEVER, when new material is generally crap (perhaps a function of the music being released in general) then that is what is being discussed, people lose interest, and discuss other things.
But you have to look at things as both an elitist, and as a n00b. If you were just recently introduced to trance for the first time, you'd be following ASOT very closely because that would be your source of "new, good" music. And you would worship and follow Tiesto and PVD because they are the WORLD's NUMBER 1 DJ!!!! And then you'd see people talking about the "golden era" of 99 and Oakenfold and the EM World Tour and that's when you see the "what's your favorite EM of 1999" threads pop up. And then you get the new vinyl collector who asks "what's your favorite" thread and you get the mp3 downloader who wants new tracks and asks "what's the best of 2005"... it's all just cyclical, and thus repetitive and boring for the veteran.
Anyway, I guess it's just something you have to deal with and learn to weed out the threads we find boring. With an open community you'll never be 100% happy with the crowd. But hey, we all needed to learn at one point or another and hopefully we will all continue to learn...

Yes. And no. In America, the young children are brainwashed, like you were, by the smash hit animated film "The Lion King". You are taught that the toucans and baboons live in harmony with one another. You are taught that lions do not spend most of their days lying down waiting for hyenas to walk into their jaws. You are taught "hakuna matatta", when it is really "cock the gun-a and ratta tat tatta". You are taught that Whoopi Goldberg is a good voice actor. In the Africa of...your mind...there will always be worries for the rest of your days, which is usually a week or so.

How come they won't update the TA site design, wsnt that supposed to go down a while ago? Anyway, yea TA is def elitist country, its open season on the noobs, but what really gets me is, when certain people try to be polite and stir a convo with someone, and get to know someone, maybe because u share a common interest, and then next thing u know u get made fun of or some other shit, because the e-cliques on here run rampant, alot of the times its a popularity contest, and no one will bother speaking to u unless they know u for a while or ur "in". More courtesy should be shown on here, but its not gonna happen ..its the internet, people come here and use forums as a toilet dumping ground for their frustrations, emotional needs and so on.
Steps to being a succesful TA elitist:
a)Make fun of more mainstream stuff
b)Be blunt/right down to the point, with no room for discussion
c)State your opinion as fact
d)Respond with as little association to anyone not on the same level of elitism as yourself
e) have a hax sig or make stupid haxor comments to some legit question
f) Idolize more progressive sounding artists eventhough u may not even like their style, but just to make urself look more sophisticated
G)Orly owl
h)Treat new users like they belong in the gutter

I find that each person here tends to specialize in their own thing, and each person is here for a different reason.
It used to be that most were mp3 hunters, everyone was listing tracks to paste into napster or posting audiogalaxy links, everyone was watching the streams and collecting all the releases and memorizing track names and identifying them in sets. Some kids would latch onto one artist and know everything there was to know about that person, other kids would be into less popular genres or music from different eras in history or hundreds of other things.
Then there were the kids who just liked to chat, to find like-minded people, to pick the brains of kids all over the planet, some kids enjoy arguing, some are just curious explorers of various topics.
I'm just saying this because it seems like alot of you think the only purpose of this place it the hunt for tunes and talk the buzz surrounding the international headliner DJ's. But there is alot more going on here than that, I don't think very many people are going to miss one person ceasing to post stuff. Anyone can go on a google adventure and find tunes to talk about or visit a record shop, there are not very many kids whos musical satisfaction depends mostly on the contributions of 'elitists'.
There aren't any real elite people on this board, everyone is on the same level. Some kids have really big egos that make them feel surperior and some feel like they have to climb the ranks somehow but there really isn't any sort of ranking system here besides the fucking post count. Each and every person here is worth the same, everyone has unique insights and a unique set of music that is available to them. What makes this place a valuable resource is the exchange of those unique things that each person has. If all the kids who consider themselves elitists just stop then new ones will emerge, nobody here is truly elite and irreplacable, anyone who has been here very long has seen enough "elitists" come and go to realize that.
