I had an amazing time! I brought 3 of my friends and it was great meeting some TAs that I hadn't met before (sup Gordy, RStern, etc ) and of course seeing Michelle again is always a treat -- she's so nice! I'm glad so many people were able to make it out for the show.

Sound quality forgiven, the sets by both Thomas and Markus were sooo great! Thomas played his new track Evaporate which is just incredible, and closing out his set with Seven Cities bought him tons of props by TAs on the dance floor. Thomas is a riot and got up to dance on one of the gogo dancers' spots during Markus' set, and Markus was laughing

I wasn't a big fan of the other DJ sets much.. the flow between the DJs wasn't that great but the reasons for that were explained to us before the show, so that was alright. I look forward to Michelle's review!

Btw Christy, I'm not sure what happened but the door guy said he didn't have my name on the main guest list.. luckily Thomas added me to his as a backup just in case Regardless, thanks for having a list for us! It was really generous.

The LaTA’s get to the Empire Ball room at 9:50, we where not the first in line oddly enough. Vision77 a GDJB head I have been chatting with was in line before us. We soon met Jeff and Christy and Jeff the main people behind Liquid Ent. Very Nice Sweet people I might add.

Once our id’s where checked we went inside to a very nice club. The Dance floor was a good size with the VIP section right on the side. Picture the set up at the Vangard. There was a huge Chandler that had different colored lights in the middle that made for a very cool show. There where also 2 bars in the main area. A vodka red bull was $14, but it was big and it was quite strong. So that made up for it.

The Dj Booth was set up on a Stage but way to the back of the stage. With the super bright Stage/ Club lights and the fog it was hard to even see the DJ. I knew I was going to have a hard time getting good shots with the set up.

The First Dj on was actually pretty good. He was playing some nice progy stuff. But Once Robbert told us that Gordy was spinning in the back room we went there. The back room was super nice. Not very big but there was a lot of plush couches and chairs. Gordy at the time was laying down some nice trance tunes.

If there is one thing about Vegas I hate is that you can smoke anywhere. The smoke in the back started burning my eyes so I had to leave the room. The first Dj was still on and still rockin. It is a little past 11 and the dance floor was still pretty empty. I am soused to La I guess and would think people would take the opportunity of the Free list. But I guess not. Apparently the Empire Ball room is an after hours location and people do not start showing up until 2am!

Anyways, while Sarah, Julie and I where warming up to the groves. 10 girls come out from the back wearing black boy shorts and white tees. These girls had to be the go-go dancers. 2 get on stage and ummm… ICK! Awful. They could not find a beat to save their life. The girls rotate every hour or so. 2 out of the 10 girls where actually decent. Other then that ICK!!! Who ever told the girl that converse and fish nets looked cute need to have their heads checked. One girl did not even have shoes. The go-go girls did not look like they where really into it. It was so bad. Yes I go for the music and the music alone, but people have to relies that Go-Go dancers do play in the whole experience for people. And it is Vegas! Hellllooo there gots to be better dancers out there.

Enough of that rant…. Not only did the Go-Go girls rotate the Dj’s in the main room also seemed to rotate a lot. There was a duo tag team pair, another guy then another one. Playing some housy tracks. They where ok.. but then again I am kinda picky about my house so I wasn’t really feeling the tracks. So I went to the back and there was more house there.

Finally Thomas gets on and plays some Trance. The Dance floor gets a little more people on it. Christy comes up to me and asks me if I wanted to say Hi to Markus.. Since he was there. So Jeff takes me up stairs to say hello. While I was up there I met some people who knew Markus in is AZ days. That was awesome! During our chat Thomas set was done and a new Dj was on the decks. He played Prog but the kind that did not go anywhere for me. The dance floor cleared again and cleared pretty quickly.

Back down stairs I went this time Grabbing my millionth picture with Markus and off to find my spot. Now it was the waiting Game.
Finally at 2:15 Markus gets on and sends everyone who was not Dancing on the floor and the ones that where all ready there into Dancing Machines. Markus killed it. His first 5 tracks I had no idea what they where. I have not heard them live an or on the GDJB. WHOOO HOOOO! I love it when Markus plays new Stuff. There was this one Track I wish I knew the name of. The break down in it was so amazinggggggg!!! \O/

However he did play:
Till there was you-
Ice beach
Electroflux vs Find
With out you Near (last track) and the ones that the LATA’s requested!
I knew a lot more tracks but I am so bad at spiting out ID’s that I forgot what they where. Lol.
The sound during Markus set seemed to be really muffled. When you can shout out a request for him to hear… it was too low. At least the stage lights where turned down so we where not blinded.  Regardless of the sound issues Markus was indeed amazing.
However I was hopeing more people would be there. It was crowed in the front but I still had room to dance ( which I love) but towards the back it seemed pretty empty.

But after Markus set was done the music took a turn for crap and the place got packed fast. The washers, the meat heads, and striper like girls where out in full force. The Empire ball room became a meet market. It was scary. Time to walk around but no where to go. It was bad. The after hours I guess just begun.

After walking around for a bit and saying goodbye to Markus and rounding up the LATA’s it was time to go. The cab line was so huge we nabbed Markus who was ataing for his ride and grabbed a limo. It took us a good hour or so to get there. It was a cluster fuck getting out. Once out we made our first stop then off to Draies.

You can not do Vegas without doing Draies right… after waiting for Robert and my friend Sean to show up it was down the stairs we went. Us Girls got in free which was nice but the place was dead.

I was dead. By this time I hit my wall and club bed was calling my name so we all got a cab and took off. The LATA’s and Sean went back to Empire and I hit the pillow.

I had such an amazing time in Vegas! I needed the La break.
Christy and the rest of the Liquid crew- Thanks again for making the night happen and for the list! That really helped out a lot
Julie, Sara and Robert- Thank you so much for coming. Sara for driving, Julie for your energy and Robert no more sugar for you k
Sheffty and Bof and Gordy- It was so nice seeing you guys again.
Bommer you where missed

I will have my picts up soon!

still a bit numb from my trip to vegas but wanted to post while it was still "fresh" in my mind. we roll into vegas around 7 pm and had a couple hours to get ourselves together and get to empire ballroom. we get to the club and meet christy and several others, jeff, gordy, vision 77, and others. thanks christy and liquid for the list, it was totally appreciated!

get inside and the club is absolutely beautiful! low lights, candles everywhere, giant chandaliers, big cushy couches and seating everywhere, big open bars, nice big rooms front and back, nice bathrooms, just an all over beautiful club, and a very hot bartender in the back, gave us free shots btw the down time gave us a chance to get cocktails, feel the place out and chill since we just drove 4 hours.

the first dj in the main room was very good, too bad he was only on for about an hour then a few okay djs were on after him. we got to catch part of gordy's set and he was laying down a nice trance set. like michelle said, the smoke was everywhere and my eyes were burning so bad. by 1 am i thought michelle was going to jump out of her skin she was so excited, it was way too cute!!!!

i was looking forward to markus's set since i have never seen a full set by him yet even though he only played for about 1 hour 45 minutes he definitley didn't disappoint. nice set and he seemed pretty happy that the LATA's were there with his number 1 fan, michelle, in attendance. the crowd was light but very much in to markus's set. had the floor dancing the whole way through. and of course the last song he drops is without you near, which is my favorite!!!! yay, next dj up and we went and walked around.

thomas's set was good as well, he seemed to get a bit faded which was pretty funny and he was all over the club. nice to catch his set though.

we walk outside and run into markus and talk to him for a bit as we wait for a cab, markus decided to catch a ride with us and up pulls the limo and we all jump in, thanks empire and markus for the ride, we drop markus off and on to drais we go. it was dead inside, run into a few people i know from LA, go figure, michelle is fading and we decide to head back to empire with sean. michelle heads back to the hotel and off we go back to dance. we get there and faarsheed is on the decks.... and WOW what a set he was throwing down!!!!! i was exhausted but i couldn't stop dancing until 9:30 am sunday morning!! i hated leaving when i did but i could barely stand anymore and knew i had the drive back to LA later that day. afterhours was definitely happening at empire, it was packed and crazy people where everywhere. played the game working girl or not, always fun to pick out the ladies of the evening!

the only down side to the evening were the following: smoke, yuk, my eyes, the sound was definitely down during markus's set, we could literaly yell to markus and he could hear us, the dj booth was too far back needs to be pushed up a little further, and i hate to say it, i know, sounds like a bitchy girl but those go-go dancers, my god, they made the girls at avalon for ferry look like professional amazing dancers. most of them seemed bored, very few had any kind of rhythem, they had no idea what to do during the break downs, half of them had no idea had to dance to house/trance music, they may have been better at hip hop but not at a dj event. sorry, the girls are part of the experience and again, like i said in my ferry review, i guess we are spoiled in LA from going to spundae and avalon and having such great dancers like danielle; and desiree in san diego. okay so enough of that.

great meeting gordy, sheffy, jeff, vision 77, christy(so awsome), and several others at the club. boomer you were missed, glad i got to meet you at ferry in LA. had such a great time. julie, robert and michelle, such a great time with you guys. michelle had trance in her pants all night long waiting for the man of the hour, robert was on the prowl, julie had to fend off that leech that wouldn't leave her alone, but it was great dancing with you at afterhours. makes me really want to go back for lawler on the 1st. okay long enough

Lol, your name was on the main list, then when i was putting the final touches on the list, Thomas sent me his list, and it was on his too. Our before 11 list was growing out of hand, and Thomas' list was an anytime list, so instead of having you on both lists, I listed you only under Thomas' name. I explained this to the door man that if people were "on the list" but not listed under the before 11, to look on the other side and see if they were a DJ, Dancer, Equipment guy, or on a DJ list. Guess I need to explain things better next time. lol.

If you're on both lists, i'm ovbiously going to leave your name on the better list so there is less confusion. I didn't want you to show up late and have any problems (just in case)

I guess that's what i get for trying to be efficient. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Actually the show this week is $10 if you're on the list before 11, and we're working on a reduced admission between 11 and 12, but no promises. Regular admission is $20. If you consider what you pay at ICE to see like Deep Dish or Oakenfold (I paid 40 for deep dish and 60 to see oakey two nights in a row at ICE)to see Kimball Collins for the first time back at Empire since Utopia closed down, DAYUM!! If i wasn't hostessing the party, I'd so be there anyway.
But that's just me, I'm all about being where the action is. lol. I love to say "i remember i was there when...." Which probably explains why i'm in this business in the first place lol. Do what you love, right?

Haha, no apology needed, it makes perfect sense. I just wasn't aware you were comparing lists prior to giving them to the door men Thanks again for a great night and thanks again for managing those lists for us!
