The extra dollar and 4 times the file size is not worth it imo. 320 mp3 is more than good enough quality for me.

Why the hell would you want them to offer it in WAVE files, it's the same shit! Just get your bloody MP3 and you can use Winamp to convert it to WAVE or even use a Audio Editing program like Sound Forge.

Man, this is unbelievable.

And first off, there is no quality difference when converted. Don't bloody download a file that big.

About fucking time. I wouldn't spend a dime on an MP3. It's like buying a counterfit Gucci wallet at retail price. Vinyl/CD/Wave are the only options. It's not only the sound quality compromise - it's the principal. Don't know why labels ever decided to release MP3s. You're buying something that has been converted, compressed, raped and toyed with. I guess it works for the economical home listener - but I wouldn't touch MP3 buying with a 6-foot pole. Not that I DJ or have an audiophile soundsystem.

So your actually telling me you can tell the difference hah.

First off, if you rip from a vinyl, either 192 or 320 will sound like its original source. Just in a club 320 will produce cleaner sounds and bass.

so if you get a original WAVE file and convert it to 320 Mp3, you can tell the difference?

The price markeup while possibly being justifiable ( everyone has their own opinion I'm sure ) is certainly problematic from a cost point of view.
Beatport increased prices several months ago or so and that was already a bit annoying.

The price with the wav releases will be nearly as costly when purchasing a complete release as if you had purchased the vinyl record.

Clearly they are taking the p*ss

to combat piracy they offer reasonably priced mp3's. now people have started using them the price is put up to more than to purchase a cd single release. and the labels will cry poor when piracy increases again.

Wow most of you have this completely wrong.

What happens when you compress a wav to mp3?

It takes sounds out that the human ear can't hear. This way compressing it. Even a 4:1 ratio on a 320kbit mp3 is still going to be compressed. On your home speakers, sure you wont notice much of a difference, but, play on an audiophile or club system and you will notice a difference.
320 is not bad, but you still lose sounds that you don't hear with your ear that drive the speakers to produce the sounds and rumbles and whatever else it is to make it sound great.
It's 1$ extra to DL something 4x the size that most of you are saying you can't hear the difference. This feature is NOT for you people. Its for the ones that can hear a difference, and the dj's that need the highest quality possible.
So save a dollar and don't worry about it. But if you want the best quality available for digital download, that doesn't sound hollow played out, its finally here.

Cheers,
Mike

It won't make a diffrence since any programm won't no what has been cut out. It's like you can create something from nothing...

Nice post. The way I see it is if you actually play out in a club then you should spend the extra $1 and get the WAV. If your dreams are to one day have a show on ETN or Party 107 then don't bother getting WAVs.
