three cheers to BT selling out at any possible chance he gets...

im sure if i had his talent and position i would do the exact same...

its too bad the last and ONLY time i saw him live was 1997 at a crystal method tour, when does he plan to come to Toronto anyway?

BT = amzing inspiration to the rest of us who use synthedit plugs trying to emulate his style.

music is music dude, what is selling out anyway? (rhetorical question) I don't think Brian is rich in any sort of way, in fact he's known to have his money problems here and there & does reject the majority of hollywood movies and remixes he's offered from popular artists/labels... seriously, all these talks about people getting some recognition being labeled as "selling out" is really pathetic. he does what he likes/wants (no question about that), you listen to what you like. no need to judge anybody.

mind you this is an appreciation thread, so i don't really want this turned into a debate!

who knows!

maybe in some mix albums, he's yet to put one out (other than r&r, and 10 years)

I don't think I'd call BT a sellout - he didn't really start off doing purely underground stuff. He may be one of the guys that created trance music, but more importantly, he's always done his own thing and not cared what the masses (or even his peers) think. Even when he's done work in the pop music or soundtrack areas he always manages to come up with something new and interesting that isn't just a copy of a copy of the same old schlock.

People have gotta make money one way or another, and he actually seems quite picky to me with respect to the projects he springs for - it's just that due to his talent, he gets far more offers to do work in the mainstream music scene than most other "electronic" producers. He can come off as a little bit of a prima donna when he talks about his production techniques, but other than that I really can't find much to fault him on.

Maybe if he's working on Tiesto's new album, then Tiesto's new album will actually be good.

totally agree with that.

That aside, I'd also like to add he's probably the only person to take into consideration the music he's producing to its played environment, i'm not talking about style, but more so his scores for example are produced in a way to play well in a "theatre" a large hall where echoes are likely and may manipulate any slight misrepresentation of any musical element.. like wow!
