As far as i am aware...

The CDJ800 has everthing that the CDJ1000 MK2 except for the following:

1. Memory Card
2. Hot Cues
3. CD Text Display

But the 800 has auto loops in place which the 1000 does not have.

I bought the 800's cos they were cheaper, but also because for me, the auto loop is a lot more useful than the hot cues. It really depends on what you play and how you play.

Basically the auto loop feature is a one-touch loop button where you don't have to worry about catching the in and out spots correctly. It still has a manual in and our cue control which means you can also manipulate your cue points once the loop is in place for effectas is the case with the CDJ1000. It's a feature that i find really handy when you have a track that needs a longer outro to work with what you're mixing–just drop in a one bar loop at the end of the track with the touch of one button and away you go

The Rollin Connection boys use the hot cues etc really really well and couldn't do without them in a set, so it's really what you're used to and what you're planning on doing inthe future (and of course price!).

also missing wave display and 0.02% pitch resolution, seperate controls for brake and startup speeds.
that said, the 800's are a lot better value than the 1k's, you do pay a lot for those last few features.
if you're getting cdj1000's for $1299 I would suspect they were seconds stock, as they wholesale for more than that. should be able to get the 800's for $850-900.

We've got a cdj 800 at my joint and for what you will be using it for, definately go for the 800. Apart from the memory card/memory function and a few little nooks and crannies its pretty much the same as the 1000.

PS - whinging about the pitch automatically means you devour penises

i love my CDJ1000, still learning the in's and out's of it, love it!

I've used a cdj800 too, good unit, but the platter feels a little loose compared to the 1000.

If you can afford it, i rekon the cdj1000 is the go.

i'm thinking of getting a cdj200 as my 2nd cdj as im a little strapped for cash and it's a decent unit.

Since when did Jb care about wholesale price especially with the volume they sell? It looked pretty brand new in the box.

they often sell very close or at cost, they very rarely sell well under their cost. Rebates are used to get their profit when selling volume, but even that wouldn't cover selling at that loss.
If you do get it at that price, make sure you ask about the warranty.

I do tech support for pio's sales software. JB don't get things much cheaper than other stores, they just sell for bugger all profit on a lot of gear.

no they are not once you buy them you dont have to worry about buying vinyl which costs a small fortune you can just burn cd's or download songs and burn them to cd. in the long run they are much cheaper than turntables.
