If there's one group I'd rather see handle vocals it's A&B.

contrary to polular belief they do not consist of dj above & dj beyond ...sometimes only 1 or 2 of them turn up for gigs though

Individually A&B do make quite diverse and different sounding records, however together they do have a particular style, but then so does PVD, Tiesto, and a lot of other producers. I personally can't wait for this album to come out it's going to be class. And very different from their normal stuff as they say they're not aiming to make big club records (although there will be club remixes) but it'll be interesting what will come from this. Female vocals are one of my favourite things in the world and this album promises plenty of these!

I have a feeling that will confirm it as a Shivers style crap/cheesefest.

yes I know that their music is for the broader pop audience who don't care much about the trancy aspect but rather enjoys a catchy melody with some poppy vocals throw in on it, hence their success.

uhm.. that madonna remix was really, really cheap and a cheesefest deluxe, made for the broad pop audience. so i really don't see your point. they have always been very commercial. yet another case of nostalgia getting in the way of real arguments, i reckon.

I never said it wasn't cheesy. A proof of that is that the A&B remix was chosen as the video version which was aired on MTV etc.
Of course you can't remove the vocals etc in a version like that. But still it was far better than the stuff they throw out nowadays. And since A&B themselves admitted that the Madonna remix is their best produciton till date I guess they know they've gone downhills.
the same with their remix of Sunset on Ibiza.

Are you another one of these musical snobs here? The Madonna remix is a masterpeice. Wot because it has lyrics its cheesy? Get a grip. If u cant see past your own style then thats your fault. Just about everyone in the EDM industry recognised that tune as something special

This thread is the first time I've even heard of the damn mix, so it can't be THAT special.

When did you get into trance? Its quite clear that you dont know your history if you havent heard Madonna - What it Feels Like for a Girl (Above & Beyond Remix)

The remix much like Ferry Corsten's remix of Adagio actually made a poor pop song (in Ferry's case a classical piece of music) a commercial success because of its poularity on the dance floor. Its one of the best vocal uplifitng trance records ever. Just because a tune has an uplfiting melody and isnt "groundbreaking" (or whatever that means in a genre that has a set structure to its music anyway) its automoatically cheesy to those "in the know". Look ive been listening to and been critical of trance records since 1998 and i think i know a thing or two.

You cannot dismiss A&B simply because they access the commercial market. I guaarantee they love what they do and make far more of a living out of it than producers who are making more forward thinking trance (again whatever you like to call that). Imo the only producer who is making tunes with a "newer sound" is Sander Van Doorn and even he has taken a lot of his sound from counterparts like MArco V and Oliver Lieb

I got into trance six years ago, and I'm familiar with "classic" trance records from the very early 1990s. I know my trance history, but I don't know about a remix of a Madonna track that I'd bet my right arm would be just as popular even if A&B hadn't remixed it, simply because anything with "Madonna" on the single-case is a Top 5 hit any day of the week. That's called marketing.

Oh, and I haven't ragged on the damn record. I've never even heard it. However, in all my time at TA, in all my time looking up on the Internet, buying tracks, reading articles and listening to people who've been into trance for 15 years, this is the first time I've ever heard any mention of this track as a classic (hell, if I've heard of it at all, it was a vague name-drop).

So: stop shoving words into my mouth and stop assuming I don't know anything about trance.
