import taxes are a killer

the high prices in the local shops where you are exist not necessarily because all the shops are run by profit crazy scam artists (although that is possible) but more so because of the import taxes that they are being charged as well

however

if you find an online shop that is MUCH cheaper... chances are they will be a good choice because after all import taxes you will likely be saving some money


keep in mind that warranty and other customer related after sale services are more complicated when dealing with a foreign merchant

you just need to check up on those duties and do the math yourself

and make sure you purchase on a day where the currency exchange rate is in your favour

ie. foreign country dollar is weaker than your dollar

The import taxes are high (25%), but that is not all. the custom charges a fee, based on the value of the item, for everything over USD $30 or £20. The more value the item has the larger is the fee given by the custom.

That is why I have not order from UK or the states, yet...

If Norway only could be in EU the import taxes would not have been a problem, if I ordered something from UK, or Germany

The curency is good though, being the oil nation Norway is. 1 USD is almost 7 Norwegian Kroner (NOK), for 2-3 years ago it was about 9.

see if you were to go to the u.s from the uk, pick up a couple of Cdj's and then bring them back with you, would you get busted at customs and taxed, or could you say that you took them over with you from the uk?

Call up a friend who lives in sweden or any other neighbouring (lol i know sweden's the only one) But get a friend to get it for you in another country. then get a 'present' from a 'family member' sent to you.

Don't think they're allowed to tax presents..

well, i've discussed that with my father. He is from sweden, and I have a lot of family members there. So that thought has crossed my mind.

I will look into it, and maybe get my hands on some "cheap" CDJ's from germany, or maybe holland

My cusin in sweden works for scania, he fixes trailers, and he said to me if I wanted something cheap in sweden, like a paintball gun or some other stuff, he could send it with some of his friends, who drive trailers trough the place I live.. So maybe he could send som CDJ's with them..
