anyways,

if you got enough for 600 bucks per deck, i would spend the money on two cdj-200's and get an efx unit instead. how i understand it, the dns-3500 has a little less accurate pitch (.05) as opposed to the cdj-200 (.02) but the denon has built in effects and a gimmicky-spinning platter. the platter and the effects are unneccessary, and you can find a better effects unit to buy on the side.

it sounds like you're new to djing, and i guess if you're looking for something that will look cool and impress your friends, get the dns-3500.. for the spinny platter and the effects knobs and such. i guess.

definitely if you've never tried djing before, don't buy anything. try traktor first. why drop $1200 on the denons, and then at least $150 on a mixer and all that, if you may or may not enjoy it

or better yet, if you want to spend even less money, get a pair of denon dns-1000's. they have the same built-in effects, no spinning platter, and a little less accurate pitch (.1) which is, contrary to popular belief on the forums, definitely manageable. i got mine for a little less than $500 for both of them.

dn-s3500 has 0,02% resolution aswell

I meant nothing personal about my post. And in fairness, the proportion of American's to any other country on this forum is quite large. So obviously it's gonna be more difficult to have all of you on your best behaviour.

Point being, i had a go at a (what i would call) fellow country man.. As i wasn't too happy with his ranting and raving, but.. he was able to take it on the chin.

Anywho apologies as i was just surprised by Basstard..

Go Figure.. Again i'm not trying to be harsh, you guys just have a stereotype attached which i try to usually steer clear of.

So.. back on Topic.

If it were my choice, starting off. Not really knowing 100% if i want to do this Dj'ing thing for a good few years. I'd go with the cdj200's.

They're cheaper, they get the job done. You have your 3 effects there for a little fun. They're solid as a rock. And seeing as they're cheap enough it shouldn't be too difficult to upgrade without losing a lot of money. (resale value isn't too bad IIRC)

IMO, go with the cdj200's, if you'd like something a little more bling Go with the DNS3500.

I personally, am going to get a set of CDJ800's. As that's all i'll need at my home. CDJ1000's are as a lot have pointed out, just too expensive.

Oh and if i don't talk to any of you before the 1st..
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

nelly

thanks all. CDJ200s it is. i went to guitar center and played with all the decks and i like how the 200 doesnt have a spinning platter. i had no idea how to use them. the guy that worked there didnt know how to use them either. i will match it with a djm300 and be done. i think this kit will be easy to sell in the future if and when the upgrade path presents itself.

forget those two for starting. Although The CDJ-200 is a nice deck, i don't think it has shit on the American Audio CDI-500. And besides these two decks are in the same ballpark for price. Just check out this American Audio deck before you make any final decisions.

Cdj 1000s and cdj 200 are two totally different decks. The platter the feel, everything is different. Its the same as playing on a denom and then on a pioneer. I dont understand why u made that comparison.

The Denons i'd go for. There's scratching, more efx, and the CDJ 200 is a cheap plastic piece of garbage. The platter is plastic

The denons are top quality and built like a tank. Also .02.

i have the denon dns3500 and i never touched a cd player before and within two days i was spinnin and mixin just as good as with my technics.... so id go for the dns3500... yes it is more expensive but its amazing... i love it... the pitch resolution is .02 for 4% and .05 for 10% but its so easy to pitch bend with it that it really doesnt matter... very easy to mix and very easy to correct... hope it helps
