i dont consider clubs/lounges more suitable for wine-tasting events to have a better vibe than would a "second-rate-European-trance-DJ" lineup...

You're right, Vlad. Be a puppet. Be a follower. Don't try and form your own opinion, especially if it isn't popular. What the hell does "form your own opinion" mean, anyway?

Come on Jaime, don't be so hard on him. Forming your own opinion isn't an easy thing to do when society in general teaches people to subscribe to the groupthink, pack mentality.

I agree with you there, but there's a difference between making your own decisions and making ones for the sake of going against the majority. If everyone made their own decisions, occasionally one or two would fall into the mainstream.

Too much on this site (though less in the NYC forum), I find that some people let their opinions be decided by the mainstream in that they see that mainstream and take the opposite stance because that makes them more "underground."

Well, there's much beauty to be found in diversity. However, I understand what you are saying and yeah, I do agree.

Not everything mainstream is bad, and that's not what I was trying to say - but so-called "common knowledge" is often quite erroneous and it's validity should frequently be questioned.

A friend of mine had a weekly party there. It was a cool vibe. Mostly funk was played and they had live percussions (bongos). I think the place is acid. A lot of black light stuff. I don't think the location is great unless you want to be close to Grey's Papaya when you get out of the club. It would be cool to see trance music played there. The sound is good. There are 2 huge speakers facing the long dj booth.

Couldn't agree more, I see it as musical "elitists." I used to love Led Zeppelin but I had these cousins of mine who would scold me cuz it was mainly the mainstream. There was a reason they were widely popular, because they were the best. Of course this doesn't apply to every situation there is too much commercial crap. But then what riles me is saying a whole genre of EDM is crap just because you subscribe to something else. Trance is cheesy... yadda yadda yoo. Same stuff ad nauseum like I want the lecture. It's my opinion and because it's different, doesn't mean it's junk or uneducated.

Plus, it's not like trance/house/breaks/electro or whatever is musical genius. We're not talking Mozart symphonies hear, it's basically a repeating bass line over and over with a few loopty loo's thrown in there, some at slower/faster speeds and some at more loops than others. Some grabs, some doesn't. But it's what I like.

I guess I find myself unique sometimes in that I like most forms of EDM as long as it's interesting to my ears.

Totally off subject but that's me.

About the club, sounds promising, I'm definitely interested in something new to check out.

I went to love for the first time last sunday for Joe Claussell's "Sacred Rhythm" party and it was amazing. Joe was awesome. I love how that guy works every track. great vibe. I waited on line and there were some people behind me talking about nights they spend at Paradise Garage. Sound is AWESOME!!!! I know that Joe Claussell is a resident there on Sunday nights, but I don't know how often.

Im glad that you have your own opinion, but you always have to be an elitist prick about it.

How was he being elitist? Explain yourself rather than using vague generalizations.
