Hand from the other night.

So I'm playing 1/2 NL at my buddys cafe (in the back they have a 10 man tables that they run on several nights). I buy in for 100, and been playing conservative, I get 9d 10d, the guy next to me raises 10 bucks, I come in. The flop comes Jh, 8d, 2d. I got the open ended straight and flush draw. I check to him, so he bets the flop like 15 bucks, one guy calls, then I call. Next card was a brick, helped no one, he goes all in for 80 bucks. First guy folds, and I look at him, and show him my cards and tell him "Do you understand my fucking predictament here?" He nods and says "yeah" and he starts sweating out. So im figuring he has a decent hand, maybe AJ or something like that. I take a minute to think and i say "Fuck it, lets gamble", he flips over trip eights. Next card Qc, I complete my straight, and I take all the cookies.

Later on in the night, I get 7h 9d, and I limp in on the button. Flop comes 8c, 10h, 3d, and im first to act, so I bet it out 15 bucks. No one calls except this fucking loose canon to my right two spots. This guy honestly plays anything but im figuring he has a 10 in his hand. Next card comes is a 3c, I bet out again 20 bucks to scare him into thinking I have a higher kicker, but relentless he calls me. So im wondering if this guy is playing with a 3 in his hand, I even ask him "Abe, your not fuckin playing with a stupid hand like 10, 3 are you?" He smiles. Next card is a 6s, theres my straight, so I bet it out 25 bucks, as soon as I drop down the bet he goes, "Im all in", I dont hesitate and I call. The dumb bitch played K 3 offsuit, and tried to fuckin trap me, well I had about 150 in front of me, he had about 230 infront of him, was a nice pot, and I told him that for whatever reason he felt like fuckin me up, it blew up in his face for playing stupid card. Though I feel like a hypocrite for betting on an open ended straight like that.

Three nights ago, I lost 160 in two hands. Pocket aces all in, got called by Jacks, and he caught on the flop. Then I limped in with 7 9, the flop was 7h 7c 2c, every one checks. I bet to see who has the seven as well. Got two callers. next card a 5s, first guy goes all in, second guy folds I called him saying "Show me your 7-6 or 7-8". He had 7-6, and I had him beat. Sure enough river card....6. Good night. I got up and left the table.

nice hand (the first one). it would've been tough for me to call that, even with all of the outs you had. great maneuver showing him your hand though.. always gotta look for a tell, right? I had a somewhat similar hand last night where i outdrew the leader on the river. I had J10s.. one caller, flop comes K J 8 (i also had a flush draw at that point). He raises. I call, figuring he might have the King. turn comes K J 8 4. He raises me all in. at that moment i was short stacked (i only had about 10 bucks). I KNEW he had the king, but i called anyways.. he flipped the King.. I said, "Well, Jack or Ten." River comes... Ten. it's always a great feeling outdrawing the superior hand

as for the losing hands you had... bad beats are a bitch. i (and i'm sure you) have seen pocket aces go down so many times with bullshit hands... usually always with a lower pocket pair that hits on the river or some bullshit like that.

hehe, last night im at a low limit table online. I have pocket 5s and limp in, or I think someone rasies a lil. Either way the flop comes A64, suits are scatered. This other guy has $2.5 and bets $2. Kinda odd, if you have an ace you are good and should extract money out of people, not bet 4 times the pot. He felt weird to me so I put him all in, he turns over KQ and my 5s hold up.


Later he tells me I shouldn't ahve called his $2 raise. So I tell him I was ahead the entire time, why would I fold? He said in the long run I will lose, I thanked him for his concern and said I won't be laying down any winnig hands any time soon.


Have any of you guys read any poker books? Im reading through Skalansky's thoery of poker and it is pretty sweet, he said players that play their hand exactly the same as when they know what the other person have will win, but when you play it differently you lose. seems inuitive, but he goes over a bunch of ways to folow that.

Super system 2, and Caro's book of poker tells, Im looking into the others, theyre a tad bit expensive.

Took a 700 dollar win the other night, but got cracked two nights in a row for about 300 now. So im taking it easy, and looking into investing into another book to pass the time while on the shitter.

Good call though, I had a situation like that happen to me with pocket fives.

I raised 10 dollars, got a bunch of callers, the flop came 7, 6, 2.
Two people check to me, and I bet out 20 bucks, everyone folds except one of my buddies who tends to play really loose. So I put him on a shitty hand like 7 or 6 with a 4 or 3. So hes really liking the flop. I think he has the six to say the truth, but with me betting hard, hes gotta believe I got overcards. So next card comes a 3, and he puts me all in. I think hes got two pair, but something its off, its not like him to bet out two pair like that. I think hes on a pair with a broken straight, but I dunno which card he hit. I call him, and he had the A-3. He tells me good call, but the river comes...and its a 3. I lose the hand regardless.
