Beats could have been tidier but tune selection wasn't bad although you had a drop in energy. Not always a bad thing but just thought I would make you aware of it.

Cheers

i USED to play. i haven't practiced in a lllooongggggg time... same w/the bass guitar, and the baritone. the funny thing is, that i actually have keyboards, and guitars. i just don't play them anymore. a lot has to do w/the fact that the time i would normally use to play instruments is completely hogged up by dj'ing. i can still throw it down w/a sequencer... but playing live, i don't think so.

case in point. i was messing w/my asr-x pro. i played w/it for about an hour, i took a nap. then threw it in the closet, and i haven't seen it since. this was about a week or two ago.

i flipped on my mpc, listened to a few tracks... messed w/the arrangemtns a little bit. didn't save anything, turned it off, and threw it back in the closet. this was almost 2yrs ago.

when i'm not around an instrument, i think about it incessantly. when i'm at home, it's the last thing i want to do. i guess i'm just not feeling it right now.

I think it's a real shame how people tend to learn instruments well when theyre younger then, for no particular reason, it all just kind of tails off as we get older...

I know what you mean though - there's no way I have space for a piano, a harp and decks in the room im in just now so it's really difficult to practise.

i think i'm going through a cycle. at least i have stuck w/doing something w/music in one form or another. so atleast the drive is still there, it's just manifesting itself in the form of dj'ing. if i can hook up another job, where i could make enough working part time, or if at my job they would let me work 10hr shifts, and get 3 days off. i would definately push my self to pick up an instrument.

plus space is an issue, but it's not an insurmountable obstacle. TIME is the biggest problem for me. patience too... i'm scared to see how much i suck now. so much that it might break my will.

aside from the notes, i like to make a few other comments.

i personally dont follow keys since i dont read notes, but i still manage to do good.

heres whats good. being a 4 month old dj i think youre definetely on the right track. you have a 'good ear' it seems. track selection is good to be honest so thats a great start.

4 months is still nothing though, so you have alot of things you can work on which is great cause you can improve. first of all, beatmatch was a little off when vocals on SOS ended and it felt like the tempo speed were matching but you werent pitch bending the incoming track.

second, the energy dropped too quick and weird. some might blame this on the second track selected but i dont. i blame it on the 3rd mistake you made which is reallllly important.

third which im amazed noone yet mentioned is the 'beat counting' technique. this isnt actually a technique and you get used to this without even counting. you made the full transitions to the 2nd track at 44 beats. this caused the sets energy to sink and it also messed up the flow. someone can explain this in depth, or u can PM me later on and i tell u later on.
