The Vtech 2.4GHz cordless we have now had the LCD screen on it take a complete shit after only 3 weeks of operation. Not abused in any way at all, the screen now shows only gibberish.

WiFi standards 802.11 b and 802.11 g use the 2.4 GHz frequency to transmit data.

If you have a cordless phone that uses the 2.4 GHz - the phone will interfere with the WiFi - possibly causing SIGNIFICANT problems the WiFi (slow data transfer, dropped connections, etc).

You should try to get a phone that is 5.8 GHz as it operates on a separate frequency – and thus won’t interfere with your wireless internet.

Caveat: if you use 802.11 a – then get a 2.4 GHz phone as 802.11 a operates on the 5.8 GHz frequency. VERY FEW PEOPLE USE 802.11 a.

Most (95%+) home/small office setups are 802.11 b/g - so go with the 5.8 GHz phone.

well, after saying I wanted no features...and looking around at stuff...I grabbed this one (and an extra handset) from Bell World since I hate Future Shop and just didn't want to support that shithole and needed on right away.

Not cheap, but it seems to be really good...very good reception, clarity, etc. I will program some Markus Schulz or Sander as a ringer when I can be bothered, lol.
