i wont vote green party and here is why:
They want to raise taxes on junk food, Gasoline, cigarettes and alcohol as a way of social engineering. I am very much AGAINST the idea of government's treating society as children. Since this is the Green party's philosophy i cannot vote for them. |
Well, I respect your view, but I actually love this idea of raising taxes on harmful things and lowering taxes on healthy, more effective products. People like saving money, so they'll eventually adjust to this system. Otherwise people are so lazy they would never change their ways. Lazy people need government's help. I know a few people personally who finally quit smoking because they had enough of paying lots of money on them.
I myself became a vegetarian few months ago after doing a lot of research into food & health. I dont eat any animal meat or milk, but I do keep a careful tab on all the vitamins, minerals, protein and fiber that my body would need (I drink soy milk). It was hard to quit on meat. The first month of rejection was unbearable, I DREAMED ABOUT MEAT, so addictive. And let me tell you, since I have stopped eating meat, I am now feeling better, I AM NEVER TIRED, I sleep better, and I pay less for food!!! And, I get more protein in nuts, veggies and bread! Plus soy milk has no lactose (a lot of Canadians are lactose-intolerant, by the way), it has MORE calcium than antibiotics-pumped cow's milk has, etc.
Maybe sometime I'll start a thread and open up people's eyes as to what meat and cow milk ACTUALLY have. You think governments and corporations care about your health? Spending more on health care is not the solution when there are more and more sick people in hospitals because they dont eat properly, do drugs, smoke, dont exercise (yes, north americans are more overwheight than the rest of the world). Green Party focuses on the preventative measures. People NEED to know (at least, need information), because Canadian (and American) education system frankly doesnt teach you much about values, healthy eating (I've seen a kindergarten 'healthy eating' tape last week and LAUGHED) or any moral values whatsoever anymore. For example, aspartame and monosodium glutamate are test proven to cause cancer in rats, yet they are added to many of our foods (with exception to many other countries, particularly in Europe, who BANNED them). Etc.

The problem with the Green Party is not the platform - the problem is that the candidates that they have running are inexperienced, ineffective and often inarticulate.
If the Green Party wants to be taken more seriously they need to improve their candidate roster/credentials significantly. |
Yes, I have to agree with this.
