The reasons I don't reply to the threads here a whole lot, are the same reasons already mentioned here. A lot of the questions asked here could be easily answered with a search of this forum, looking at the FAQs, or even with a web search. So who wants to waste their time replying to those? I've offered imput where I can though, and have also let people know I've found the info they posted usefull. I never flame, and never reply unless I have more than 3 words to say.

To be honest, I rarely see an interesting post around here. Seems a lot of people come here just to get help, and that's ok, but I rarely see any threads that are thought provoking, spawning stimulating discussions. Nothing can be done to change this of course, I'm just explaining why I don't reply a whole lot.

I never thought that people might come here looking for free tracks. Seems more likely they would go to the tracks section where producers are submiting their tracks for review. I get the feeling that most of posts with many views and few replies, are indeed from green producers. I'm in learning mode too, I'm not green by any means, but there's a lot of tricks, techniques, and technology that I'm not familiar with or haven't heard of. In that case, I only reply if I have a follow up question.

I often check threads from work or school, where I can't really download tracks and review them. Then if I do choose to check out a track (and I rarely do because of time issues), I go back once to download it and a second time afterwards to post a reply. That's already three views there.

Also, I often find myself with nothing constructive to add. I find it pointless to just post 'nice song' every time I listen to a track, so I usually just post if I have something intelligent to say. Sometimes I'll even just PM the thread starter instead.

axolotyl mentined the fact that people give harsh replies like 'use the search !'

i think these people need to chill a little. if they dont want to read or answer these questions then dont look at the thread... simple.

but there are a good few people here who spend their lives doing this. how can something like that piss them off? they need to spend less time on the forum and more time doing productive stuff.

'sidechaining' is a typical example. if your bored of the questions being asked then ignore them...

Im still a noob when it comes to production so i dont have much to add but when i do i add as much as i can.
I read almost every thread that goes through here and take in as much info as possible, so that one day ill not only be able to produce tracks that i am proud of but also so that i will be one of the people making the detailed/informative replies.

I think one of the reasons that the quality of the posts has died around here is because this forum is diluted with half-interested wanna-be producers that pirate their software... they haven't done the research and are too lazy to search through the forums and other resources on the net for answers. They're not completely serious about music production and assume that it's as easy as pushing a few buttons... hense the "how do I make a melody" or "how do I make my song better" threads...

That may be a jaded comment... but I think it's the same as the DJ industry. So many wanna-be DJs dilute the market... but hey.. at least they have to pay for their gear (which they generally end up selling a year later)

Your forgetting dj programs and such.

I pop in and out on here alot, but often do not reply for many reasons. First I am a casual producer with no music theory experience, so I am totally useless on any theory questions. Next, I use mostly Reason 3.0 and the cheapo Cubase, so alot of tech questions are for stuff I never even got to play with. Finally, simply put, I am still a noob when it comes to alot of this stuff, and well, do not even make trance music.

I started to haunt this site after I found that I got better info here than from books on music production I was reading, and even though I do more aggro industrial, I can often figure out how to make what I want by reading through the archives of threads.

If I can answer something on a rare occasion I will, but mostly I just view threads and save them as text if the info is something I will use down the line, or just kill time reading various techinque stuff.

I do agree though I see alot of harshness when people just starting ask noobish questions though, which is why I do not make any threads.

I think u all need to smoke some chronic and cheeeeel the feck out.
