you've said it before, and now i completely agree with you. i even read it in a book the other day.. it said that if you play straight poker, raising only with premium hands, and knowing when to fold, in the long run you will win more than you lose.

this brings me to my next point which is that i WON 900 BUCKS sunday. it was a good time.

hehe, its called grinding out the table. You have to have an adequante bank roll and some basic knowledge of the game. There are gonna be swings, some large, some not, but as long as your bank roll can cover it, you will get it back.

Some things you can do to minimize the downswings is play multiple tables, start at 2 or 3, then 4 er so. You can't fuck up all of them :P. also, usually if I have 3 or 4 losing sessions in a row I move down in blinds. That way you can work through your down swing without losing so much money.

and playing straight poker is cool for a while, just watch for the people that notice your playing style, after an hour or two you can bluff em out easily if you have been playing straight solid poker.

I love the game, there is soo much about it I never realised.

hmm... good ideas...

i see what you're saying about the straight poker part- people expect you to play only premium hands, so when you raise with a mediocre hand they are more likely to fold their mediocre hands... right?

exactly, although I liek to think my specialty is tourney play, which that is a move peopel make a lot. They start tight, make people notice they only play premium hands and then they are open to bluff people out of 2 or 3 hands.

But it also works in ring games. You portray a certain table image, they notice, then you defy it. just remember the fundamental therum of poker, a player that plays his hand exactly like when he knows what their oppenent has will profit, when you start playing differently from the way you would play if you knew their hand you will lose.

they had A3, if you knew that you would play the same, raise raise raise.

its late, time for sleep. good luck.
