TTC could get more "overcrowded"

Taking the TTC to work today?
If you don't have time to wait for a bus that isn't overflowing you know how crowded it can get during the rush hour, but the TTC is considering packing in even more passengers.
Today they will consider a report showing how they could save up to 5 million this year if they opted for overcrowding.
The city has asked the TTC to cut 17 and a half million in spending or they will have to raise fares, again.
TTC Chair Howard Mosco says he doesn't like squishing in more passengers like Tokyo, where they hire people to push others into subway cars.
The TTC says they already allow modest overcrowding especially during the morning and afternoon rush hours.
The Transit Commission is also considering cutting 29 cleaning staff in favor of using machines overnight to wash down subway stations and save money. |
Yeah it's a shame that our upper levels of government haven't taken public transit too seriously. Despite the minor annoyances I still consider it the better way over a car anyday
Really, compared to other cities, like London, U.K., where they actually have to close the front doors of some stations because they're so rammed! You have to line-up outside, just to get in the station! Our stations can look really laid back to me.
If all the commuters were to follow simple rules like actually move all the way in the subway cars instead of cramming around the doors! We've all seen this happen at rush hour. Also, always stand on the right side of the escalator to let people in a rush pass by quickly.
The above would really not be much of a problem I bet. Those two rules are followed almost religiously in London and if you don't someone will remind you politely
