CDJ 200 hands down is probably the best CDJ for a beginner or an intermediate. It was made to be geared towards that crowd anyways. I mean it seems really simple, yeah there's effects and looping and all, but it also helps with the basics. It's inexpensive too (well for a good CDJ), only $399. Whats also good about it, is that it will last you. So if you did get good, you probably could make due with just that, unless you wanted to fork over the money for a CDJ 1000, which I did. Don't regret it, however it has all these buttons (the hot cues, the looping) that I hardly use. It's just the CDJ 200 is so small, that if you wanted something that is closer in feel to a platter on a TT, then the CDJ 1000 is for you. But beginners (i've mixed for 3 years so I think I know what I am doing...am not perfect though) should go for something like the CDJ 200 to get their money's worth, fo sho.
