it is pretty discouraging to see someone work so hard at something, watching them put all their energy and drive into it, and then to see them get such a weak response in return... and i'm not talking about the crowd. Rob fucking filled that place on saturday night. we were in there on friday night and there were maybe 6 or 7 people there, but saturday we had lots of people come from all over - Stevens Point, Appleton, i drove up from Waukesha - all there to support Rob. but after the night was over i couldn't help but think that it felt like an annoying high school group project, where you get stuck with a bunch of lazy people in your group... and saturday night it just seemed like Rob played the part of the kid who did all the dirty work and pulled everyone elses weight.

granted, it was still a sick night. Rob's set was amazing, his mixing was spot-on all night, he dropped lots of sick tracks (it's too bad Dustin killed that Nick K track though), and he is by far one of the most fun DJs to watch (and i'm not just saying that 'cause he's my boyfriend and it gives me a turn on, lol)... it just sucks to see the huge difference between the vibe we get when Rob plays a house party by himself, versus playing out at a club where you have other DJs and club owners and whatnot to deal with. i think the business aspect of playing at clubs kills such a huge aspect of the vibe - unless of course everyone is giving it 100%.

but the real point i want to make... Rob Turner is my favorite DJ in the whole wide world. and you have my support all the way babe!

Thank you so much, you know how much that means to me (Especially with all the BS of the last few days)...

@ Dan: I really hope you guys get things back on track up there. It was really looking like you guys were making a lot of progress up there, so I hope you can continue rocking the Twin Cities proper as often as possible! I've got a lot of faith in you and Tyler to take over that city in the next couple of years... And maybe then you guys can have me up there so I can deal with friends as opposed to... well whatever it is that's going on now...

Hahahaha... dude, I really do have every intention of moving down there as soon as I graduate, but even then it's not like I can just roll up into Vision, Crobar, Soundbar, or any other club with some records or CD's and just be like "Hey, can I play too?" and then proceed to just step up to the decks...

And it's not like I know jack shit about Pure or other promotions, promoting in Chicago in general, or any people who work for promotions or club owners etc. where I'd even have a clue as to where I could start... If it ever happens that I get the opportunity to play down there, it's likely only going to be after a signifcant period of hard work getting to know people and strategic whoring of myself in the city of chicago without pissing anyone off, all while continuing to work on DJ'ing and holdin' down a career, which isn't to say I can't or won't do it, but I'm often impressed at the amount of work a lot of the local guys seem to put in to playing...

But then again, I don't know shit about it really, so we're back to square one and everything I just said could be grossly inaccurate (though I don't think it is)...

Well, that's an elementary given, Rob. But you would still get more opportunities to play in Chicago than Appleton. Nobody's talking about Vision, etc. but there are enough lounges and small venues in Chicago to have a decent chance not only to play regularly, but also live amongst a much more receptive audience.
