citizen card with picture ID should be enough.

What they ask for is proof of citizenship and your card is that.

as a Canadian citizen, working in the USA from 1999 - 2003, i've been through the border numererous times (drove from chicago to Toronto roundtrip at least 30 times).

all i have to say is that pre-911, everything was alot easier. after 9-11 they've really cracked down and made it alot harder to travel.

canadian immigration officers are alot more forgiving to canadians (not sure about americans).

with my TN1 visa i usually breezed through US customs, but after 9-11 it took a bit more time.


anybody with work related visa questions lemme know, i'm an expert!

OK. Here's one of mine:

I applied to Concordia University (Montreal) as a transfer student, from the US (currently attend Peirce College here), on 3 January 2006. Assumeing they received all my previous educational documentation they needed to complete the registration process, what else would be needed before I need to go on to get the visa(s) and _how long will it take for me to get these visa(s) if I am to start in the autumn 2006 semester_?

Concordia also mentions I need an income that is _not_ part-time, but I didn't think this was possible if you are in Canada on a student visa. That really confuses me. I'm getting my FAFSA (US federal financial aid, they have Concordia Univ in Montreal listed as an acceptable place for me to continue receiving their aid) sorted out, so tuition needs _should_ be settled, though I'm not 100 % sure yet.

My main question involves the visa and how you can work being on only a student visa? Thanks...

I think as a foreign student you may be allowed to work certain jobs (campus jobs or part time stuff)- unless I am confusing it with foreigners in university in the States...?? It's been a long time since I was in Uni, and I can't remember where I heard that (US or Canada)- its all a blur....

actually im not really sure about student F visas, you would have to do more research on that

i did however work in the usa on a TN1 visa, which i'm an expert on. working full time, i also was able to study grad school part time, which didn't fall under the student f visa

you should make sure all your documentation is cleared... hope that helped?

Foreign student can work anywhere if the person/company that is willing to hire him will provide confirmation letter to ministry of labour.
