i record onto an iriver H320 regulalry. Took a bit of messing about to get the sound levels right so it sounded ok. now it sounds good so long as I don't run the mixer well into the red, recording when other people are playing is not so easy as they run levels all over the place.
not sure about other iriver models, but the H3* series have a recording limit of 200Mb per file. If you don't stop and start again, it'll just stop recording when it hits that limit. takes 10 seconds or so when you press stop before it saves an dyou can start recording again

*AHEM!* Los Angeles NEVER sleeps!

i can explain why people have that (incorrect) impression, about my fair city.

stupid people go home early. there are a lot of stupid people here.

it's that simple... really, it is.

Well I was planning on recording at 320 then re-compressing it to 192 with a little work done to it to fix it up.

I've got an Iriver too and it rocks. I've got the older one with the optical input, not sure if the newer ones have it. Anyway I used it to help a friend record a set since his computer sucked. Used the optical input and hooked it to his soundcard which was a good card and the results were amazing. Doing this bypassed his shitty processor since the conversions were being done in the soundcard. I think the time limit on mine is an hour. I have the H120.

i have the h320, and its great, although i have trouble setting the mic to the proper level, and it doesnt help with all the yelling the the people do, but i guess its good since it gives you the sensation that your at the club, lol.

I also have a minidisc, and its also easier to use since it has its own volume limiter, which i dont have to adjust the mic for nothing. just start to record and it will level on its own. but i hate the transfer from the mini disc over to the PC.

i have an MD 700, and you WANT AN iRIVER, trust me, converting from sonys atrac format to mp3 on ur computer is such a pain in the ass!

Also the software that sony make as an interface to the minidisc is so shit, it crashes all the time and has way too many bugs

get an iRiver, no question at all!

iRiver's line in and its ability to record is a great idea I was thinking to buy an ifp-800 but decided to stick to my Numark USB mixer which already allows me to record
