You think laws are strict in canada and singapore

Here is a little bit of laws here in the state of utah

1. Birds have the right of way on all highways if caught running them over is a fine or jail time.

2. You must have identification to enter a convienence store after dark.

3. Daylight must be visible between partners on a dance floor

4. Recieving oral sex can lead to jail time. (sorry guys no bjs here for ya) lol

some of the stupid laws here!

as Vertigo is pointing out, it's not just about the LAWS...it's about the CONSEQUENCES when you break those laws...i.e. what amounts to "justice".

how about a comparision of typical sentences, Jay? (I'm asking, because all I know are the obvious media cases...like being caned for vandalism, being sentence for spitting gum on the ground, etc).

FTR caning is done by professional martial artists who are quite good with that stick. (to minimize bodily harm ie ruptured kidneys and stuff)

that depends on what you consider quality of life. I consider a good quality of life to be having the freedom to live it how you want to without government coddling.

On that we both rate pretty low.

Sentences are stricter in singapore for sure. We need tougher sentences here for serious crimes and we need to loosen up on "social crimes" as in drug possession, smoking etc. (this is even coming from a non drug user and non smoker over here)

The fact that we focus on retarded things like smoking laws while rapists are getting away with what they do is what blows me away. I'll bet Singapore CAN focus on smoking laws and bubble gum BECAUSE they already have strict enough penalties for rapists.

Yeah and Singapore is also one of the few countries in the world where you can be thrown in jail if a cop finds you to be on drugs......

Death penalty for trafficking?
Fine if you don't flush the toilets?

I really liked Singapore, and didn't find it to be strict there....the clubbing is amazing, but Canadian laws are definitely not stricter than Singapore's.....certain rules may differ, but remember this is two different parts of the world you are looking at.
