Progressive Trance, Progressive House, HUH?

Well, heres what I say... Go listen to a Davfe Seaman set... say Live in Cape Town, and try to differentiate between the Trance and House tunes. Theres the difference.. not a whole lot. WIther way theyre my fav styles!!!!!

kinda, I took the album cover apart (in photoshop) and made that pic from it.. The turtles dont really have those "halos" and they're a bit farther apart and different sizes on the orb cover.

But yes, I am a plaguerizer.. I hoped that no one would ever notice. *tear*

Progressive Trance = Trance

Progressive Trance isnt really Progressive..... what u guys think of progressive trance is just strictly trance with slight touch of progressive ...... and Airwave - Save me is not progressive it might be more progressive sounding then Epic ..but epic isnt straight up trance either its epic...Airwave can be mayb considered as Bel/Germ style of progressive but its far from any true progressive...

the difference is that Progressive house has a stronger bassline and the whole beat structure is layed out more.... some progressive has more of trancey elements to it but the main drive of the song is teh bassline and the beat structure .......... in progressive trance the main drive of the song is still the synths,vocals,etc.... it might be a strong beat but thats not the vocal point of the song its the synths ...thats the different from Progressive house and progressive trance .....and thats why progressive house is true form of progressive and progressive trance is just trance with more of a progressive feel . and yes to a non progressive fan they might think there very similar...but to a progressive fan there is a big difference between the too

ok more thing there is also a well developed grey area between progressive to house and progressive to trance /progressive trance..... these songs capture both sides equaly ...many house songs sound very progressive in the beat and there are many progressive trance songs thats have many Progressive"Progressive House" qualitys
so there is a large Grey area between all these genres ...

but the songs randummboy recommended to be progressive is far from the truth ..

Good, accurate post TranceCluber. I'll add that the grey area is growing bigger and bigger, as the traditional niches that this sort of music fit into get filled up and overloaded with music that starts to sound the same. Producers are looking outside the current bounds of the genres.

There's much more overlap between the progressive genres too. Many DJs will play progressive house and progressive trance in the same set.

And many new songs completely lay outside the bounds of both genres. How do you catagorize Timo Maas' "Maas Attacks"? It ain't house, it ain't trance, but is played by both types of DJs. Sander K, James Holden, Scott Bond, Danny Howells, Scott Henry, etc all are doing this sort of thing.

I'd also put tracks like Slam's "Lifetimes", Funk D'Void's "Diabla" and Junk's "Wildlife" in that grey area too...

I prefer to think of progressive as an all-encompassing genre, with sub-genres that are created by tracks/artists grouped together with a similar style, such as

minimalist house (Peace Division, Creamer & K, Tarrentella & Redanka)
deep dish house (Deep Dish)
tribal house (Lexicon Ave, Satoshi Tomiie, Markus Schulz, Maurice & Noble)
vocal house (Rui Da Silva, Jan Johnson)
tech house (Subsky, X-Press 2, Natious)
rolling trance (Sander K, Solid Sessions, Starecase, Planisphere)
etc...

I'm sure you think of more than I can, and I'm sure these producers will have switched categories or created new ones in a few months time!

Would you guys consider classics like "Energy 52", TasteXperience's "Summersault", and Y Traxx's "Mysteryland" to be progressive trance?
