Part of the reason why I left Boston was because I wanted to do my own thing and call my own shots. Over the years I worked for many owners that wanted to make lots of money quick but were never ready to do what is necessary long term to be successful; at least in my opinion.
When I came to Philly and hired a staff and announced that the music format what going to be "dance" for lack of a better word, there was utter silence. I was told by my staff that unless I played hip hop no one would come. I was really nervous as Philly wasn't where I had dug my roots or had a reputation, but I gotta tell you that there is a hardly a weekend that someone doesn't walk up to me and thanks me for what I'm doing. Although not every event is suucessful money wise, that fact that we always have a good vibe and people truly appreciate what we're trying to create, it's well worth it for me. Times will get better, and I rather be doing this under these circumstances than playing hip hop like the rest of the city.
Anyone can be doing this not only in Boston, but in other cities as well; the problem is that everyone wants to play it safe and do the same old shit. I've reached out to other club owners and promoters in Boston to no avail, so I'm doing myself. Fuck it.
As far as Yves; be careful what you widh for, you might just get it...........
As far as the size of One14; it's not big at all. Three floors; basement, first floor and top floor. Top floor is where the guest dj's play. It's a double edged sword. Sometimes I wish I had more room and others you can't fill it. It is what it is. It's small, intimate room where the dj's and the crowd can be one. That's the best I can say. Hop this clears up some questions and sorry for the long post.

Manny,
I was there for NYE and Jon O Bir. Love the club and vibe. Cant wait for Steve Porter, since I am a huge house fan. I was just wondering if you could have the guest dj's come on earlier since they have to get off at 2am. I am used to the 4hr+ NYC sets, and I know you have to close at 2, so is there any way the dj's could start at like 10pm or something? Just a thought. Again, thanx for everything, and I will continue to show support.
