Sounds like you're not using predictive text it makes things much faster. Here's are two examples of how i would write the word "gone" on a Nokia mobile with predictive text and without:

1) With predictive text:

I punch in "4663", the word "good" appears underlined, i press "*" to cycle through the possible words, it goes "good" then "home" then "gone" at which point i press "0" (space) and continue typing the rest of the message.

2)Without:

I punch in 4, 666, across arrow, 66, 33, 0

I work at the Vodafone call centre and with predictive text/T9/single tap mode/dictionary/whatever the phone calls it, ppl either love it or hate it.

I get a real laugh out of the words that my phone comes up with on its way to producing the word I actually want.

Real life examples:

"I'm at the bum" (atm)
"We're going to the Anal and Bull for my Dad's birthday" (Cock)

And what's with the complete random words it makes up? My old phone used to spell "Hobbsu" instead of "Hobart" ... wtf is a Hobbsu?
My current phone couldn't spell Hobart until I put it into the dictionary. Before I did that it would spell "Incap" and then complain. It was incap-able of going any further.

haha I knew a girl named Erica who we used to call Dribb (not to her face!)

I was on a hens night last week and had to teach my phone to spell 'penis'

Has anyone else had their phone 'forget' all the words entered into the dictionary? I have a SE T610 and it's done it about 4 times in the 2 years I've had it. (I'm assuming it's happening once the 'my words' dictionary is full, it has a rather small memory)

Lets get serious about this.

People only like Nokias because they once had most of the market and everyone had one. They were easy to use, because every model was the same. It still stands, but if you weigh up features vs price you'll find that Nokia is leagues behind.

I was a Nokia boy, through and through, but Sony Ericsson's recent handsets have been top notch.

I work in a phone dealer, so I see a lot of handsets, and to be honest, Sony Ericsson takes my vote.

Stay away from cheap panasonics, any LG and majority of motorolas.

Thought this might be of interest to everyone

Wonder why in Australia, Telstra, Optus, Vodafone etc have not let this one out of
the bag... wouldn't mean that they would lose profit would it ??

To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following on your
phone:

star hash zero six hash as ( * # 0 6 # )

A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to
Your handset.

Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. Should your phone get
stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code.
They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief
changes the Sim card your phone will be totally useless.

You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that
whoever stole it, can't use/sell it either.

If everybody did this, there would be no point in stealing mobile
phones.
Send this to as many people with mobiles as possible.

It's hardly a secret.
Vodafone offers IMEI (serial number) blocking any time someone calls in to report their phone missing. We can even block a handset without you having to give us the 15-digit number - it's recorded on the systems every time you make a phone call.
