1. How is a champion crowned in the English Premier league? |
answered already a couple times, basically it's a league where whoever gets more points is the champion (3 points for win, 1 for draw in case you didn't know already ), there's no playoffs or knockout stage or anything like that

participants are the teams that almost qualified for the Champions League, and the teams that get knocked out of the Champions League in the early stages. the format is really strange nowadays, with a two-leg knockout round, then a weird group stage with 5 teams per group where they only play each other once, then two-leg knockout till the end except the one-leg final

UEFA Champions League, although it can be debated that the new FIFA World Club Championship is the real world champion title but Liverpool this year didn't even want to participate in that I disagree with raveed, the Champions League is definitely more important than any national title, even in the strongest leagues. It's just that it's a lot more unpredictable, a bad match can throw them out so a season cannot only depend on that - that's why managers are fired if the league position is too low, but not if the teams get knocked out early of the CL.

haven't heard anything on this
| quote: | | 5. Why is Real Madrid so average with all those superstar players? |
Lack of stability (3 managers per season average), lack of team spirit (too many egos), incompetent squad sense in buying players (too many forwards, they value players' reputation way too much over their actual quality), players getting old (Zidane and Roberto Carlos are definitely near retiring), incredibly huge expectations (winning both league and Champions League is always expected).
| quote: | | 6. Who would you rank as the top 5-10 players in the world? |
Goalies: Gianluigi Buffon (italian, Juventus), Petr Cech (czech, Chelsea)
Defenders: John Terry (english, Chelsea)
Midfielders: Ronaldinho (brazilian, Barcelona), Frank Lampard (english, Chelsea), Kaká (brazilian, AC Milan), Steven Gerrard (english, Liverpool)
Forwards: Andryi Shevchenko (ukranian, AC Milan), Samuel Eto'o (cameroonese(sp?), Barcelona), Thierry Henry (french, Arsenal)
| quote: | | 7. From what I understand, if USA advances through it's draw in the World Cup, we will have to play Brazil in one of the next two rounds. I know they will be heavily favored, but we are ranked #6 now, so is there any chance we could beat them? How often do underdogs win big soccer matches? |
Umm that's slightly wrong. If both USA and Brazil go through, they either play each other in the next round or in the final (not the quarter-finals). I don't rate USA as low as some people here, but they're definitely not the 6th best team in the world and against Brazil, who are definitely the best team in the world, would probably have a chance in 10.

One of the antecipated games of the season is today: Chelsea-Barcelona. Don't miss that one.
