There's hardly any good EDM mix CDs out nowadays! let alone trance mix CDs..and most of them that come out suck IMO, read like a top 10 or 20 of trance hits, rather than offering stuff we haven't heard. The last really good trance mix CD IMO was Ferry Corsten's "Passport: Kingdom Of The Netherlands", because it had good mixing and good tunes and some tunes that weren't on every other compilation at the moment. Yeah Tiesto's ISOS 4 had some really nice tunes but the mixing, as everyone already knows, was so poor that it personally distracted from the mix, more like something that you pick good tunes out of it then listen to it continuously. Hopefully ISOS 5 will be better (one good CD perhaps) and Armin's ASOT 2006 will be good too, but I have a feeling it's going to be just another ASOT episode on CD (like the last). Maybe he should scrap the whole "ASOT" compilations and make his compilations different than his ASOT show, that would be nice, need some variety. If I wanted an ASOT show i'de just buy them online on his site or just listen to them...

Yeah but to me mix CDs don't have to be "stuff you wanna rock out in a club", unless of course it's a live mix or something made for that, but I just like to be entertained, listen to the CD, not pretend i'm in some club. Stuff I can put on in my car or with headphones on, listen to in my room. Yeah it was pretty generic but so are many other CDs, but he did have a good balance in that CD of melodic trance, proggier stuff, and some of his electro type stuff, so I thought it was a pretty varied CD. Besides I like it that he had only 9 tracks per CD, so you could enjoy the tracks more, rather than a bunch of edits of them. Personally, that bugs me, unless it's something technologically sophsticated ala Sasha's "Fundacion".

haha, ok, fair enough
i respect your opinion, but i dont necessarily agree with it,
the point about the clubs is totally true, but it doesnt even get me dancing in my room, or pumped or really bobbin my head....and it's trance so i dont know it just didnt do it for me
but you have different taste than me, and at least you can substantiate your point of view unlike a lot of other people here who make ridiculous comments so thats good at least

Yeah thanks, I'm not really a part of the club scene so I don't think when I listen to trance music or on mixed CDs, that the stuff has to be club worthy. I think of trance from a slighly different point of view then a clubber would, but someday I'll probably get more into the club scene, once I can drink (in another few months) and am not living with my parents (who worry about me ALL the time, hate it but what can I do...I love my parents) and know more people who would want to come with me (it's so much more fun when you are with people you know, well for me at least...).

If you confine yourself to what Tiesto and Armin are putting out...then yeah...there aren't many good mix CD's coming out.

But off the top of my head I could think of at least 10 good mix albums that have come out within the last 6 months.

I don't think there are too many mix CDs, but it's certainly true that you have to look harder than before to find good quality ones. If you buy something like Mixmag then you get a free mix CD every month from a variety of genres and some of them are great.

some ones worth consideration that have come out relatively recently (though by no means the best)

Ministry of sound sessions featuring steve angello
Subliminal session 9 w/erick morillo
Sander Kleinenberg - this is everybody live

to be honest i havent really bought any new ones besides those, the last thing i got before i got those was hernan cattaneo renaissance (the newer one)
that's decent too

Thats true, I used to get imports all the time, but they started to get expensive, but maybe I should resort back to getting imports, then just getting state-side releases...thats probably why I'm not seeing as many good mixed CDs...
