The Traveler is 24 bit, same as the 828. The PCI firewire card I bought is 64bit, but only uses 32 as my board does not have a 64 bit PCI bus(don't know if they exist yet in the PC world).
To get it to work with windows media player I had to go in and set the device in the windows media player options to "MOTU Analog" as I also did in the system sound settings. It worked fine after I did that. I had to do the same for winamp and iTunes, and I imagine it should work the same for the 828, as the drivers are probably not very different at all.
