I looked around quite a bit and purchased the Panasonic 26 inch LCD for the bedroom and have been very happy with it so far. I got it from Costco for about $300 less than what Tweeter was selling it for.

For Christmas I got my folks a Philips 36 inch and it's ok. It is a good set for the price. I am pro Philips products. There is a lot of value there. Plus my electronics purchasing policy has changed. Electronics become obsolete very quickly. It's not like the days where you would buy a TV for years.

I have my eye on the 40 inch LCD for my living room and Sony is the top that I have seen. The plasmas have way too much glare for the room. It's just the 40 inch LCD's are way to expensive at this time. I am shooting for the end of the year.

Buying electronics is a bitch. I just purchased a new computer for the house and that was an ordeal. I had it made and it's a screamer. I just need to figure it out. . .

That's too funny CND!!! I'm going to put my LCD in my bedroom and I also recently bought me a computer... well it's a HP Pavilion laptop DV4000 series. I've been checking out all the TV's (LCDs & Projection) these last couple of months. I don't see much difference in the LCD and the Projection TV except for the price. I too liked the Sony and then Samsung.

We can compare notes with our 26" LCD!

I would strongly recommend waiting on buying any tv's right now because they don't support HDCP. HDCP is basically what will enable you to watch content in full HD, non HDCP compliant TV's won't be able to play in full resolution.

If you feel that you must buy a TV though I'd suggest a Sony because they are (and have been for many years) the leaders in this field. However LCD and Plasma TV technology isn't that great yet to be honest. You still have to worry about lag in fast moving pictures which is just plain annoying. So look very carefully.

hacks are already in the works. and some ways to turn it off depending upon your dvd player already exist or are in the works.
