Dude.. hyperthreading is ESSENTIAL. You gotta have that on, always. It basically uses emulation to turn your single CPU into a dual, allowing two simultaneous operations to be performed. I'd rather have that and deal with opening v-station 4 times than have v-station load immediately with my processor loosing half its workpower.
You lose 33% power at the most. Even though it's like haveing a dual chip, it is not always using multiple threads.
I've been to the intel educationmabob on this.
I wouldn't worry about it much UNLESS you notice a loss in speed.
In any case, still see if you can find a solution other than this.
Have you tried those two VSTs in any other hosts, by the way?

I hadn't done, but I just tried it in FL Studio v.5 on my old machine - a P3. No crashes. I don't think I'll be using that one for music anymore though
Much as I love the V Station, these crashes are a pain in the a** and tbh I don't really want my PC running at anything less than the capicity I paid for.
I purchased the V Station from www.dv247.com and their returns policy, like so many states that software can't be returned. Does anyone know where I stand on this issue?

Have you tried reformatting?

I haven't but tbh it wasn't long ago the hard drive was replaced with a brand new one and I've only installed the essentials (music apps, samples etc...) for music making since then. It's pretty much spotless as far as I can tell.

I hate to keep beating a dead horse, but I'll also tell you something that fixed this problem for me...
I used to use v-station 1.1, which is the one that crashed VERY frequently.
I uninstalled 1.1, and upgraded to 1.41 and the problem was minimized greatly. As in.. it almost never crashes now.
But if you bought the program, you should have the newest version already... click the novation logo in the top left to see your version.
To be honest, v-station really is overused cheese, and it's really over-rated. You should call your credit card company and have them cancel the transation, and spend that money on a different synth... pm me and I'll name a few that are newer and higher quality for the same price.
Cheers, sorry for beating a dead horse to death again.

I didn't have to. I spoke to Digital Village and they'll offer a full refund (minus postage) - no fuss. Result. I await your response to my PM for alternatives.
