Chandler is bunk. He's got talent, but he doesn't show up for many games mentally.

Keep in mind, it's most valuable to his team. Nash is definately a contender, but I like Kobe for this one, not because of the team record, but because he statistically satisfies the requirement. Without Kobe, the Lakers are the worst team in the NBA. Other then Odom, who is less then par, there isn't a player on the Lakers that would make a starting lineup anywhere else in the league. Kobe has single handedly kept his team over 50% in prolly the strongest overall division/conference. But you can't take away from Nash, he's done alot for his team. I'm about 40/60 on this one

I agree. Although I don't agree w/ Charles Barkley about how it was race-related.

Well Shaq could of won it, but it was Nashs year, the first year there, and they had the best record in the NBA, hands down. Nash deserved it, no doubt.

D-Wade, no way, the Heat arent such a great team this year anyways, they have had all the peices, shaq has been there to help them etc etc. Nash didnt have Amare, and he was thier best player last year, points wise, so guess what Nash did this year, points and assits and everything else. I still think Kobe should win it just because like someone said, the Lakers are shit without him, he is thier MVP more then any other player in the NBA.

Since when is MVP the most valuable to his own team? If that's the case, Allen Iverson should've won last year. Without him, the 76ers would've won 12 games.

Well of course, I maen, I can name you all the top players in the NBA that are valuable to thier teams, but why are they etc etc, I think the MVP should be the player with the best record and the most valuble to his team, like duncan was back to back and nash etc etc..hard to judge really.

I think when deciding they favor players who make the players around them better - not by just making the team better by being on it.

For example Shaq's presence opens up looks for the outside game, and Nash's ball movement helps his players get open for higher percentage shots.

Now look at a player who's not being considered like Kevin Garnett. He is a very solid player who gets points, assists, and rebounds, but does not elevate his team like Shaq or Nash. At least not this year.

What I'm kind of trying to say is... put Allen Iverson on the Suns and Steve Nash on the 76ers and I bet this thread would be titled "Allen Iverson for MVP?"

Nash last year reminded me Jason Kidd on his first Nets season, but Kidd didn't get the MVP... ¬¬
