I wouldn't consider doing a 2 hour set twice on a friday night hard working. what does he do the rest of the week? and there are thousands of dj's out there (including me) that would give their right arm for a 'job' like his. |
Well we're not talking gigs that are all in the same nightclub, or even the same city! Last weekend he was in London for his radio show from 7-9, then to Brighton (over an hour's drive away), then on to Bournemouth for slinky vs gkgg (about an 1.5/2 hours away). That's a fair bit more travelling and spinning than the average big name DJ does every Saturday and I would reckon he could probably earn enough to live doing much less gigs than he does, if he wanted to. He's getting on a bit, yet he's showing no signs of slowing up.
OK so his mixing and his track selection aren't exactly top notch 100% of the time, but there's not point in being jealous of him. Honestly, I think a lot of his success boils down to the his lively and uber-sociable personality, and only partly the music that he plays.
The bottom line is that I've got him to thank for getting me in to trance, so it doesn't really matter what you say or he does, I'll always be grateful for that (and I'm not the only one).
