True, Krazy. But it's apperently easier for thoose whom have a "sense of music". Like i've always, since i was small, had no problems feeling the beat. So when i first tried, it didn't take so long. Then, when you've played for a while, you almost direct can hear which beat is faster/slower.

So, Respect, Flash Bastard! Don't give up [Really no reson]

Well, yesterday I matched up in about 25 seconds, maybe less... and then left it in the mix for at least 5 minutes without touching the record. How's that?

But that was a one off, I think. Normally I can usually get away with leaving it in for about 30 seconds to a minute without correction, longer if I keep correcting it. I'm a big fan of long mixes, they're rarely shorter than a minute and a half unless there is a breakdown really early in the song or really late in the previous song.

It really does just take practice, if you keep at it then sooner or later you will be able to beatmatch without thinking about it, you will get a sense of exactly where to put the pitch slider as soon as you start the record and it will all come naturally. A natural sense of rhythm does help a lot, but even without this you can become an excellent DJ with practice. All it takes is a love of the music!

What did you mean as in our record for beat mixing.......like 2+ tracks playing at once or live sets??

its pretty simple once you get the hang of it.....matching 2 trakz from beginning to end i guess for me

i can & have spin whole sets (1+hours) without screwing up .....that doesnt mean i dont screw up at all... no ones perfect

>>by the way ive been spinning for about 5 years now

remember to record your practice sessions so u can listen to them later and see what you can fix.

Also after you've been at it for a while you can hear/track your progress......although sometimes it may not seem so..you're always getting better

for me it hasn't been hard to get the basics down. but i've been throwing myself into different techniques such as pitch control beat matching, etc.

turned the game around totally, but i'm learning to stress my cue points as well, which i know will help me in the end.

thats great!! your first post made it seem like you were all down about not getting the hang of it but its awesome to see that you're not gonna give up.. if everyone gave up, there'd be no dj's in the world.. getting started is the hardest part, and its cool that you can say "i see progress every day".. we all have good days AND bad days.. the key is to just hang in there, if you think you can't, you won't!

that is like IMPOSSIBLE on my equipment. Actually I have NEVER had them together for 5 minutes WITHOUT touching. When you are allowed to correct the differences, no problem...but otherwise: respect!
Actually, have you tried putting 2 records with the same BPM on two technics and putting the pitch on "0", they will NOT stay together for 5 minutes in most cases.

what can you expect? all decks are not 100% equal in pitch set at 0, but its not impossible to get a song to match for 5 mins, how can you say thats impossible?

impossible, no
insanely hard. yes

one would like to think all technics are the quarts controlled and don't vary at all at 0. esp the ones w/ the reset button. but who knows.. i'm gonna try that some time w/ two of the same record

guys, note that I said "on my equipment". I have one Technics and one Sony, and the Sony seems to have so much fluctuation that it IS impossible...I didn't say that I don't believe DJTJ.
