I myself have the Pioneer DJM600 and i absolutely love it....its been my dream mixer for as long as i can remember

I personally would recommend it

I the faders are clean the EQs are incredible.........you will not be sorry if you purchase this mixer

As for the A&H mixer.....i have never personally used it...it looks pretty nice........i think i might end up buying one so I can have both the 600 & 62 on different setups

Ive heard excellent things about both mixers and im sure you'll make the right decision.

>>>>>One other thing.......i would suggest that you go to the store and play around with both of them. Which ever you feel most comfortable with you should go for.

i think more clubs, etc.. use Pioneer
i think allen & heath is 4 big events such as te , innercity

etc..

they don't bring their own mixers to raves, they play whatever they are provided with. if, say, paul van dyk would play at trance energy after gielen, he would have used 62s too.

as for personal opinion, i think 600 are VERY overpriced. a&h are much more quality. many times using even a 4-channel mixer at the club is not an option, cause you got (almost always) three decks, three cdplayers, a sampler, a dat-recorder, a line for mic and so on... 19" rack mixers are much more widespread in clubs because they give more ability to expand the technical base in future.

DJMs have plenty of inputs...

I think this is a common misconception.... the Pioneer DJM 500 & 600 can both handle this type of setup with ease - From Pioneer's website:

quote:
Two MIC inputs: MAIN located on top panel, SUB on rear panel. Other inputs: 2 CD, 2 LINE, 3 PHONO.

The DJMs have send/return for an outboard effects unit also...

Cheers

I own a Xone:62 and well, lemme say I really feel limited when spinning on DJM's. The sound quality from the Xone is way better, ok you don't get integrated BPM counters (uhm, ok don't need those no problem), sampler or fx (except the awesome VCF filter of course, this filter is just a blast to work with ). I'm more of a guy that wants absolute quality of every component (even if I have to work my ass off to be able to afford it). So if I want a sampler or an effector, I'll get them apart.
The 4 band EQ is just awesome to work with, and believe me, once you used that, you won't want to return to the "old fashioned" 3band.

Don't get me wrong, the DJM's are nice machines, very nice even. They have everything in one, and are very easy to handle. This is probably the reason they're so widely used in clubs and gigs. Be aware that the Xones aren't around for that long. They already got the reputation of belonging to the best sounding mixers of the world, but as you may know most companies (renting, shops, clubs) don't change their gear just for that. But some clubs are getting Xones in now (Fuse just to name one, they used Rodec MX180mkII's for years).

Anyway you can't really go wrong with either one of those mixers, but for me the Xone:62 tops all of the rest. No compromise, pure quality.

PS : I believe that if you use the send/return connections on the DJM600 the fx/sampler gets overridden.

i just got back from my friend's house and we were playing w/ his brand spankin' new djm600 and let me tell you that it fucking kicks ass!.. i can't speak for the 62 because i've never used it but IMO you can't go wrong w/ the djm600.. its a beautiful mixer, the effects kick ass, i don't even look at the bpm counter becuase it seems to fluctuate and although it probably gives you a ballpark figure of the bpm's, i don't think it is perfectly accurate.. but its really easy to use (as far as effects are concerned) and all of the components are built well, the knobs turn super-smooth and the x-fader and volume controls feel really comfortable and smooth too.. from my experience w/ it, i feel like i have total control, and i have never used a mixer that had effects on it before tonight and maybe through the first song i was kinda overwhelmed but i got used to it quickly.. you will have total fun w/ the djm600.. but again i can't say anything about the 62 because i've never used it.

Btw, forgot to tell. At first the pre-EQ cue system (you don't hear the effect of the EQ in your phones) felt strange to me. But now if I look back on it, I feel it's easier to set my initial EQ settings to keep a better continuity when mixing the tunes in.

I have 2 questions...What do the VCF filters do on the Xone 62 mixer?

2. My fav effect on the djm 600 is flanger! i dont know why but that effect is soo cool sounding. Is there like an effects machines that arent to expensive, the pioneer efx 500 is alot i dont need all thoise effects anyway but is there any effects module that just has flanger on it? like a flanger module that is like 50 bux?

I am a proud owner of the Allen & Heath Xone 32. Having been released after the 62 the 32 has many better features packaged into a smaller cheaper unit.

Disadvantages of 32:
* only 3 channels - 1 channel seperate from the cross fader
* only 3 eq's per channel

Advantages of 32:
* VCF slider - this thing is nuts! its like having 2 crossfaders, 1 for mixing and 1 for effects!
* Adjustable curve on the cross fader
* Reverse hampster switch for cross fader
* Punch/Kill buttons
* 4 x Filter Recall memory buttons
* Filter LFO with Tap tempo button
* CUE crossfader for checking your mix

Having used a 62 in the club I have dj'd at for nearly 2 years I would have to say I like my 32 more. The effects layout is better and you can do more crazy shit with it... check out www.xone.co.uk

I also had a Pioneer 600 before I was robbed and it got stolen. The Pioneer 600 was a load of shit! I sold my lovely Vestax PMC17A to get a 600 and as soon as I made my first CD on it I cried; the sound was noticably worse. The pioneer will make your mix sound dull. I find it so hard to believe that people can be so damn high that they think these mixers are acceptable... The sound output is filthy and the effects are filled with crackles, pops and all sorts of crud. Need i say any more?

The xone 32 sells here for $1600AUS ($800 US) and the 600 sells for $2000AUS ($1000 US).
Can anyone tell me why any sain person would pass up the quality of Allen and Heath for a piece of shit that costs $400 ($200 US) more?

Anyway I hope there is some nice info there for ya.. and I hope i havn't been to heated about my disgust of the pioneer. If you want to hear the effects of the Xone 32 please download my cd Atmosphere Hard Trance Vol 2. (I would never have dreamed of using the effects of the pioneer on a cd.. they are usless crap)
