For me it started two years ago, playing random poker games with my older brother and his friends. They invited me to take my money, which was usually all the time, until I started learning how to play and began beating them more often. I play alot, especially when I work full time and can afford to place a proper bankroll. When im not working or at school, I stay away from the tables and just practice on my game whenever i get some spare cash to throw around. For the most part, I have accomplished alot of my reading other people and learning the mathematical aspect of poker. While it involves alot of skill, it is gambling, and thats what people have to remember in the end. I guess when I show up at a poker table, I really do have a disregard for money, because in the end, you have to earn every penny, and have to be willing to loose everything infront of you in the flash of a card. I wouldnt suggest this game for those with an addictive personality, or those without self restraint.
