am not much into cartoons but futurama seriosuly kicks ass ... i have de original 5 dvd box set ... can watch it over and over again and still can't get over with it ...
bender, prof, fry, leela each and every character are just perfect ...
would love to see more of it ...
i remember there was this site on flickr that collected all the funny intro quotes from futurama ... will search and post it later.

i felt that the writers had a lot more freedom on the show cause they based it in the future, and could really throw the characters into some really crazy situations without havin to explain themselves
remember the episode with human horn? or when bender becomes human and turns into an enormous fatass?
I agree with that. It also allows the satire that the writers are good at to be expressed differently. In the Simpsons they'd just take something (rich business owners, incompetent police, stupid action movie clichés) and exaggerate it. In Futurama they can put that into a futuristic context so the satire is much more inventive.
An example is when they visit the Internet and go past the eBay room, and there's a virtual auction going on.
"The entire universe- SOLD!- to the creature of unspeakable evil!"
"Mwahaha."
There's even the Lovecraft reference thrown in with the visual gag. They could never pull that off in The Simpsons, which is why Futurama is better for me. Plus it has more genuinely great characters, rather than Homer propping up the whole show. And the Simpsons has gone to utter shit in the last few years.

I still like the one when the RobotDevil spins the robot wheel to see what robot hands Fry gets in exchange for his hands and then Bender yells out "COME ON RECTAL EXAM BOT!"
