It's got nothing to do with Israel; I like Israel a lot. It's just that SOME companies choose not to sell some products (eg, good headphones) at sane prices there...

Woah, you got the technics for $20?! DANG!

hi

yes it is I....the one who started this thread
well I have had these puppies for 2 weeks now and I love them
I don't DJ at all and I love the phones for their comfort, style and quality. I mainly use them to listen to my Nomad Jukebox and other MP3 sources. I think I got a great deal at 90 US because I have a store warranty in the city for one year so it is better than getting them somewhere else across the country
Anyhow I have a friend living now in Swiss so I will ask him about those new ummm what were they called ???? that weird euro company that just came out with the brand new pair of studio that is supposed to kill the v700, v6 and so on headphones...Gluegun Help

Yes, that's HD280 Pro, not "DH". Anyways, since you aren't a DJ, why not consider a set of open headphones? How about something bigger than a DJ would prefer? Or even some inside-the-ear canalphones?

How much isolation do you need?

hi

thanks for the offer but I like closed headphones cause I can't stand having others hear what I m listening to [ I hope I know what Im saying here ] and as far as having in the ear headphones, just dont like that in general
I like the big headphones for many reasons including the fact that they keep my ears warm in the winter.....I know that sounds silly but it works for me. I also like having only one cord coming out of one ear piece not both. That minimizes the cord getting stuck on my shirt or knee when I tie my shoelaces. I ruined so many cheaper pairs from having the cord tugged on once too many times its not even funny. I will look at the Hd280's though for my buddy whom I got the v700 off of. maybe he will pay to have them

Confused

Sorry for starting another discussion on an old topic, but what EXACTLY is it about the v7s that pisses people (read: Gluegun) off? I haven't tried both so I can't comment, but I'm close to a choice between the v6s and the v7s. The only reason why I'm getting the v6s is because Gluegun says it's good, and that counts for alot. Well..the only reason why I MIGHT be getting the v7s is because it really looks slick- very cool. I know that sounds crap, but why can't the people at Sony realise the huge potential out there and make a v9 or something which listens like the v6s and looks and feels like the v7? Argh.. that would have been the headphone of the millenium.
In any case, I have almost made up my mind to purchase the v6s, but I would appreciate if all the headphone and DJ gurus would tell me exactly what is it about the v7s that is so terrible?
One more thing.. I know this sounds lame (again), but can we use DJ and studio headphones to listen to normal CDS on a discman or an mp3 player? How different would it sound, and is this normal practise?

Actually, Great Outdoors, Sony did make the MDR-V7 long before it came out with the current MDR-V700DJ. That old MDR-V7 was essentially an MDR-V6/7506 with larger 50mm drivers. Sound-wise, the MDR-V7 is an improvement over the old V6, but at a correspondingly higher price. When both the old V6 and the old V7 were in production (late 1980's until the early 1990's), you certainly got what you paid for. But fast-forward to today, where the current Sony MDR-V600 (which is NOT the same as the old MDR-V6) and the current MDR-V700DJ (which, BTW, is completely different from the old MDR-V7) suck so badly for the price that you're paying for them, especially for critical music listening. (Uh, they typically cost $100 to $150 at retail, but I wouldn't pay more than $30 for them!)

Hope this helps.

Yea, Great Outdoors, when you talk about Sony headphones, please use the full model number...

To put it another way, let's look at the pecking order of some Sony headphones...

Sony MDR-V7 > Sony MDR-V6 > Sony MDR-V700DJ > Sony MDR-V600

So, ahhhh, which headphones are you asking about again?
