If you make it out of plastic, make sure to make some "vents" on the top to let hot air escape... The regular metal plate on my mixer gets hot to the touch easily, wouldn't want the plastic to melt

damn! my djm-300s never got hot at all. will have to see how hot the pcv-175 gets once i get it! slow german mofos still haven't delivered it and i want it now!

It doesn't get THAT hot, just hot to the touch, so I dunno how plastic would react to minimal heat over long periods of time?

I really like this idea. And I would attempt it.... if only I had a) the knowhow and b) the time. Keep us up to date on your quest for a tricked-out mixer, though!

i've kinda forgotten about this as i've been extremely busy. now i've got a bit more time on my hands and i'm thinking of doing it.
i just need to get the spare faceplate and some paint.
the biggest problem here are all the letters etc. they're so fucking tiny that i can't really make a good template for them and then just spray thru that. so far i haven't figured out how on earth i could get proper letters and numbers on it. if anyone has any ideas whatsoever i'm all ears.
i've been looking at black mixers all day and i think my mixer would look 100 times sexier if it were black. i just don't want it to end up looking all ghetto so i'd like to figure out a way to make all the markings on it properly (i could probably make all the bigger ones, like the vestax logo for example, quite easily with a template though).
i've thought about maybe first sanding it, then printing the vestax logo as a sticker and then attaching that where i want it and then painting it white. then adding all the markings i want as stickers too and then painting the whole thing black and then removing all the stickers and then then spraying some coating stuff on it, but i'm pretty doubtful it'd end up looking good that way either as cutting stickers as small as the letters and numbers on the mixer are would be very fucking difficult.
