Happy hardcores a bit of fun for a while, but there is a reason it died out. Very cheesey and can quickly become boring when listening to it for anything over an hour.
Present day hardcore is getting stale now too, it seems that nobody learnt from the death of hardcore at the turn of the millenium, and at the moment the scene is being ruled by DJs not willing to try very much new. Sy's sets are technically great, but how many times do you need to hear "Makin me wanna dance"? It was a good song, now leave it alone, don't play it in every set. Scott Browns intro has been the same for a year, and his sets are predictable. Worse still, he seems quite happy to re-release old songs rehashed over and over.
MC Storm, while I love the guy, needs to get some more lyrics, his MCing is becoming very predictable.
Gammer, Dougal, Kev Energy, Marc Smith, MC Whizzkid is where its at.
So, which do I prefer? House I'm afraid. Tho I prefer hardcore (as opposed to happy hardcore) over house, tho if the scene continues in the uninspired vein its taking at the moment that could change.
Peace
