yeah man..you should just stick with the tried and true mixing with that stuff, im sure you could do some creative cutting, but you'd really have to know your tracks and make sure both of the tracks were really simliar to each other to pull that off.

I'd say keymixing is virtually essential for this sort of stuff, especially as most tracks from the labels you mention usually have melodic elements/motifs in them from the start. If you're not careful, some of those mixes can keyclash really badly which will sound awful IMO.

Learn which key your tracks are in and then take the time to work out which keys complement one another harmonically. Your mixes will sound beautiful for it.

I also think keys and harmonic play a big role when trying to mix beyond the normal limits of deadtime mixing, although I still think deadtime mixing has it's proper effect in a set when used in certain cirumstances. The majority of "trance" tracks follow a linear structure of builds and breaks, reducing the necessary "space" if you will to improvise and play upon accordingly. This is why harmonics are important, because matching keys allows one to expand further beyond the boundaries of conventional trance mixing, and incorporate a second element to allow more diverse mixing possibilities, and most importantly, patterns. While I do agree with many here saying that progression and flow are two of the most essential qualities to a proper trance set, harmonics are undoubtetly tied in with the aforementioned properties that are necessary for a killer set. With incorporation of harmonics, structural restriction plays a lesser role in determining the outcome of your transitions.
