This is for those starting out. Once you've learnt to beatmatch concentrate on the make up of the songs not just running the two tracks in time and fading them. Your mixes just like a track itself must have a purpose not just a fade. Ie building up the atmosphere or making it more ambient if you're bringing the set down from its climax. I don't know if you know what I mean but for example would you mix the first track and the outro the same way? I wouldn't. Also know your buildups and breakdowns well. You want one track building coinciding with one track breaking down. you don't want to fade a track out to quick nor do you want the last track still there when your new tracks finished building up.
One more thing I've never used VTT but doesn't it have some sort of beat matching ability and wouldn't this mean it would be quicker to beatmatch than vinyl with which you rely on your ears. Also I would assume VTT like a pro cd player has cue which means those using it can find the start of their downbeat and keep using the same cue to test whether their beatmatched I think this could speed up the beatmatching process and may be a contributor to the current debate on beatmatching times.

The art of Djing
One thing is for sure. What djing is all about
you only find in Turntables!
Trance is all about Big build ups!
A trance tune usually have 2*climax when the
tune really peaks to the roof. When i mix
i try to kick the new tune in on the second climax
so when the first tune comes out of the climax and
and starts to fade out the new tune is starting to build up
That makes the second climax of the first song even
better because the two tracks goes along with eachother
and makes a really fat beat and when people are dancing
like hell, they new something new is coming up soon!
Pure pleasure!

PS. This isent the right way to do it, just my way

Good mixing has alot to do with programming, and obviously good beatmatching. I have been seeing more and more though that the programming/track selection is what will control the crowd.
