Ehh, whatever works for you. I've done it a couple of times and the result has been fine (and nobody's sued me yet )

hmmm.......ive read in loads of posts about layering kiks
and all manner of complicated shizzle.
ive never done this,if you eq,compress it and get the
mixdown right i dont think its needed.
ive never had a release, but my kiks seem to compare well with
released stuff.

This is a tutorial I put together ralpheee.

Sampling Kicks

I don't offer this as a professional way of track making. It's more sound experimention. But it has samples and pictures in that tutorial of how I did it in SoundForge.

Many people do this kind of thing all the time. Layering and stuff. The sound you come out with can sometimes be entirely different then the two kicks you started with.

In a pinch I'll just throw in a kick from my sample library, but a lot of producers have already found out the kick-layering technique.

Try looking through the tutorials next time. There's plenty of good stuff out there.

Probably because they nicked it as well.

What Luke Terry said. I usually end up making my own low end and sampling like 4-5 other kicks and mashing em together for the midrange and highs.
