ohh hell yeah its worth it, just that its a matter of you making it worth it.
you got to work it, and dont expect to learn the whole thing in a day if you know what i mean. i have had it since june last year and am grasping my production skills just.

It's a great tool for learning production and to see whether you will continue production. I'm not sure if how much production experience you have but a lot of people decide it's not worth the effort and time. After you've screwed with it for a while then you can invest in another app or not. If you do then you can run vst's, cubase/protools/logic and reason when rewired.

I got the demo but there isn't a whole lot i can do in 20 mins. and it doesn't seem to let me add remix parts in, im guessing you can do this on the real one?

mate just goto www.propellerheads.se and read about all its pros and cons(theres a section all about reason and discovering reason). everything you buy is going to have something good and non-beneficial so thats what i suggest. reason 3.0 i say is very good it can teach you alot of stuff.

I think it's awesome once you get to know it well. But i don't have much experience with other applications.

however, i'm very satisfied with the end result of what I can do with Reason.

Is Reason 3 worth buying?

I started using reason with almost no knowledge about production and, after spending a long time learning how to use it, I've managed to make a few respectable tracks and learn a lot. I think it's worth it... but this leads me to another question which I was going to post about - how far can reason 3 go on its own, without any supplementary programs like FL studio or cubase or whatever? now that I've learned a little I'm starting to realize how limited I am... like, I'm not able to think up a sound I want and create it, I have to work with the patches etc preprogramed into reason, and I'm unable to get refills from propellerhead because I'm naughty but then again maybe I'm just not good enough to do that yet.

I find this difficult too, but there is always the other method: experimenting until you have created something that you like!

Takes longer, but you can still achieve pleasing results!

And as for Reason? Fantastic for a laptop! If I ever have an idea come to me, I can just boot up my laptop and have the idea down in a matter of minutes. Everything that I may need is already there in the program, and my laptop travels with me a lot!
