i think it was more frequent during that time because it tends to happen when your mind wakes up before your body or when your body falls asleep before your mind...
Good anecdote...I guess this problem can become a big ordeal if you rearrange your chemical patterns in any slight way:
quote:
Paralysis while asleep is the normal condition. The body secretes hormones which relax certain muscles and prevent you from acting out your dreams. If it didn’t you would be in quite some danger every time you went to sleep.
The process of waking up might seem quite simple to you. But it’s actually a complex process involving many physiological changes. One of these is the reversal of the paralysis. People experience sleep paralysis when the hormone doesn’t wear off fast enough as they wake up. They remain paralysed though conscious. Because they have little sensation from their body, if they are lying on their backs, it can feel like someone is sitting on their chest. Eventually the paralysis departs and normal functions can be resumed.
And sorry for not doing a search on the topic first. If you want, I can post a link to it in the top of this thread?

Yeah it happened to me once.
I woke up and couldnt move at all. Paniced for a second, but remembered I'd read about the condition, so knew exactly what it was. So I just lay there for a minute, calmly, and things started working again

I've not had any of these hallucinations but I wake occassionally and cannot move my arms and don't have any feeling in them whatsoever, I know this happens now and when I wake up and realise I swing my body out of bed then flap my arms around like ace ventura when he gets shot by them darts, its brill and I often end up laughign so hard it hurts.
Good times... good times.

I've had this happen quite a few times.
Also the part where you know it's going shit, right before it happens. Actually I was quite relaxed, and when I felt that I was like, great, I'm drifting off to sleep. And then the shittiness happened. Annoying. But when you can manage to get rational about it as it's happening and stop trying to wake up, it's not that tough.
[edit] the heavy breathing part is pure shit though [/edit]
