Here is the deal. The DJM-800 is the best mixer available under $2000.
From a Sound Quality Basis alone, it is the best of its class. Dj Mag agree's as well, check out the review in the current issue. You have 2 different set of effects, one set that is beatmatched ( totally awesome ). Compared one on one to a XONE92, the competition is pretty tight. Both are fantastic mixers. If you are going to use any of the capabilites that the Djm-800 has that the XONE92 doesn't, than there should be no choice to get it. The features I speak of are these:
MIDI Control, virtually all the buttons, knobs and faders are completely assignable - priceless feature if you use it.
Digital Input and Output - This will insure the highest signal integrity. You must have a digital connection from CDJ's to take advantage of this feature. If you do, you will have a dynamic range that is over 20% better than a XONE92. Meaning you will hear things with an 800 that you just can't with a XONE92.
Beat Effects, if you like to use effects, this is the mixer for you. You will absolutely love the effects that are built in and tha sound that they produce. 10 times better than the DJM-600
This mixer is one of the best built and sounding mixers ever made. It is a bargain at its price when compared to what eles is avaliable.
One of the great things about this mixer is that all signals, whether Digital or analog are converted to Digital in the mixer. Then any effects you do are done in the digital domain and sound better than anything else out there. You can output the signal in all common analog formats, but you can also output the signal Digitally.
IF you are doing anykind of Studio work or making mixes from home, and have a way of using the digital output to record, this is the way to go.
IMO there is only the XONE 92 and the DJM 800 that should even be contenders, but it all depends on what you want to do with it.
I love the DJM-800 and all my firends and DJ's who have used it, say the same thing, it rocks. this last Monday night social, Phil K and Luke Chable had a DJM-800 brought in just for them. The place sounded significantly better then I have ever heard it.
Hope this helps.

The Xone 92 doesn't REALLY color the sound. It's simply a very clean analog mixer, it does tend to accentuate the highs just a bit, but it by know means has any analog "tubes" in it.
If the DJM-800 has the same build quality of the DJM-1000, I'll still keep my Xone thank you. Not that they are bad mixers in the slightest, the Xone's still have them beat on that issue.
It really depends on what you want. You can always pick up a 92 and an EFX unit, and you'll have a very powerful combo.

you say the 800 has a pure sound. From what i read about the 800, it has all this "24hz to 96hz digital to analog conversion" capabilities or whatever.
you say the 92 has a colored sound. do you mean old style analog tubes??
im interested in both of these mixers. a lil more details would be much appreciated. thank you
for reference and to get an idea of the sound i'm used to: i have a Rane ttm56. EXCELLENT mixer, just as ill of a mixer for mixing as it is for scratch. |
